Theatre School at DePaul University to Present OUR TOWN, Begin. 10/2

The Theatre School at DePaul University is pleased to present OUR TOWN as the inaugural production at the new Theatre School building, located at Racine and Fullerton on the Lincoln Park Campus. The Fullerton Stage Theatre is a 250-seat thrust theatre located on the first floor of the school. Thornton Wilder's OUR TOWN is directed by Damon Kiely, premieres on Friday, October 4, and runs through Sunday, October 13, 2013. Performances are Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2 PM. An additional matinee performance will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, October 5. According to the BBC, departing Director of the National Theatre Nicholas Hytner just revealed that after he leaves in 2015, he and executive director Nick Starr will create a new theatre company. He told BBC: 'I will make theatre for a new company that will, we hope, find new ways of making commercial theatre. Plans are not finished and set in stone. I'm going to continue working with Nick Starr and we will continue, we hope, to produce theatre in the commercial sector.' (more...)

Iconic stage and screen actress and Academy Award nominee Kathleen Turner returns to Arena Stage following her sold-out run of Red Hot Patriot: The Kick-Ass Wit of Molly Ivins to make her professional singing debut as the tough-as-nails matriarch Mother Courage-a single mother determined to keep her family alive and her business afloat during war. Using the David Hare translation, the show fuses politics and satire to paint an unforgettable and provocative portrait of war, incorporating more than 10 pieces of original music composed in a rollicking, gypsy-punk style and performed by cast members doubling as musicians. Hart Jr., in association with the American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.), have announced that the box office will open on Thursday, August 8th for the 17-week limited engagement of the critically-acclaimed revival of The Glass Menagerie at the Booth Theatre (222 W 45th Street) with performances beginning Thursday, September 5, 2013, and an opening night set for Thursday, September 26th. The production will star multiple Tony and Emmy Award-winner Cherry Jones as Amanda Wingfield, film and stage star Zachary Quinto as Tom, two-time Tony-nominee Celia Keenan-Bolger as Laura, and Brian J.
