Dirty Rotten Scoundrels opened to critical acclaim in the West End last April. It's taken a while to cross the pond having opened on Broadway over a decade ago but now UK-wide audiences are at last able to enjoy this production, having opened at the New Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham last night. The entire team of staff need to be commended on creating a wonderful experience before you even stepped in to the theatre. With French-speaking staff to martinis, they went the extra mile which should be recognised. (more...)

Coward is widely considered one of the greatest dramatists, composers and performers of the Twentieth Century, his works having been produced around the world since the 1920's. Howard Davies will direct Steve Waters' new play TEMPLE, a fictionalised account of the events that took place during the 2011 Occupy demonstration outside St Paul's Cathedral. Simon Russell Beale will return to the Donmar stage to play the Dean having previously starred in The Philanthropist, Twelfth Night and Uncle Vanya (for which he won the 2003 Olivier Award for Best Actor). The show starts tonight, May 21, with an official opening slated for May 27. TEMPLE runs through July 25, 2015. (more...)

Rebecca Taichman, whose production of the time-traveling Time and the Conways fascinated audiences last April, is back to direct the first show of the 2015 Summer Shakespeare Festival. The Old Globe engagement will begin performances on June 21 and run through July 26, 2015, with opening night on Saturday, June 27 at 8:00 p.m., in the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre. (more...)

Part I of Trouble Puppet's THE WARS OF HEAVEN, is the first part of an epic three-part saga. The story, created by the company under Artistic Director, Connor Hopkins, is told through tabletop and shadow puppetry. Parts II and III are to come in 2016 and 2017.  At the core of the story is the concept that angels and demons are among us, serving God and Lucifer, fighting in our wars to uphold an ancient order. The work examines what happens when some of them begin to doubt the rules. The piece is strongly influenced by Milton's "Paradise Lost", an epic telling of Satan's rebellion against heaven. Lindsay Posner's latest West End transfer is Noel Coward's 1924 comedy Hay Fever which is playing at the Duke of York's Theatre, following a run at the Theatre Royal, Bath and an Australia tour. Starring Felicity Kendal as retired actress Judith Bliss, Hay Fever sees each member of the Bliss family (made up of Judith, her husband and two adult children) invite a guest to their home for the weekend resulting in a weekend full of drama.
