Center for Performance Research (CPR) will host its Annual Benefit Performance and Celebration May 19, 2015 at 6:30pm. The evening will commemorate CPR's Sixth Anniversary and the recent completion of its new LED theatrical lighting system, procured through the generous support of New York City's Department of Cultural Affairs with additional backing from the Mertz Gilmore Foundation. Since 2009 CPR has supported more than 20,000 hours of subsidized rehearsal space, 3,488 hours of arts and movement classes for adults and kids, and 440 evenings of performance. Last year alone, CPR served over 300 individual renters and reached an audience of 2,572. Join us in celebration with a pre-show toast and very special performances by Joanna Kotze and Niall Jones, followed by an after party with drinks and refreshments provided by local Brooklyn restaurant No.7 North and Sixpoint Brewery. On Wednesday, April 22nd and Thursday, April 23rd at 7:30 in FIAF's Florence Gould Hall (55 East 59th Street), Marquis de Lafayette will be reborn in the world-premiere of Lafayette. Inspired by the letters between the young Lafayette and his wife, the play tells the story of the 19-year-old man who sailed to America as a volunteer soldier and became the youngest general in George Washington's army. The story follows the young French couple's life of adventures, and their political brinkmanship in securing support for the American cause from a reluctant king. (more...)

The program will feature Morgenstern with violinist Harumi Rhodes, violist Kathryn Lockwood, cellist Astrid Schween, and percussionist Yousif Sheronick, performing music and text inspired by composers' personal encounters with both natural and man-made landscapes; immortalizing them through works of unparalleled beauty and drama.
