Bristol Old Vic Announces Post-Show Panellists for Women-Only Night of MEDEA

On Friday 26 May, Bristol Old Vic is taking the radical step of hosting a performance of its politically charged production, Medea, to an exclusively female audience. Directly after the show, there will be a panel discussion hosted by Bristol Women's Voice about the issues raised in the production; of what it is to be a woman and a mother today, resisting the loss of identity, and the struggles some women undertake to find retribution in a system that is often unfair. New York City Opera's 2017/2018 season will offer four new mainstage productions at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Rose Theater, including a Spanish-language opera as part of its Ópera en Español series. City Opera will also offer two New York City Opera Concerts in Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall and a chamber opera series at locations to be announced. New York City Opera Orchestra will be featured in every opera. Artistic Director of Sheffield Theatres Robert Hastie today announces full casting for Kate Hewitt's production of Tribes by Nina Raine. Kate Hewitt, winner of the inaugural RTST Director Award Scheme, directs Ciaran Stewart (Billy), Emily Howlett (Sylvia), Simon Rouse (Christopher), Lindy Whiteford (Beth), Oliver Johnstone (Dan) and Louisa Connolly-Burnham (Ruth). The production opens on 3 July, with previews from 29 June, and runs until 22 July. Oregon Shakespeare Festival Allen Elizabethan Theatre Opens 6/16-18

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival invites audiences to "be our guest" for a Falstaffian romp through merry old Windsor; a heroic, Homeric journey home to Ithaka; and a revelatory musical journey of self-discovery when its outdoor theatre opens the weekend of June 16-18. The Allen Elizabethan Theatre will feature The Merry Wives of Windsor, directed by Dawn Monique Williams; The Odyssey, adapted and directed by Mary Zimmerman; and Disney's Beauty and the Beast, directed by Eric Tucker. As Ives did with The Liar, his 'translaptation' of Corneille's Le Menteur, he honors the French 17th Century practice of writing in verse, but uses contemporary language even as he maintains the Moliere play's original setting of Paris in 1666. Alessandra Corona presents her A Corona Works in two world premieres by Italian choreographers:  'Amore Impossibile'  by Kristian Cellini of Rome, and 'Just Joy' by Guido Tuveri of Sardinia, May 30 & 31 at the Baruch Performing Arts Center, 55 Lexington Avenue (entrance on 25th Street).   Corona, a former 12-year principal dancer with Ballet Hispanico, will present her 7-member ensemble joined by a guest actor.  The choreographers were invited by Corona to create their works earlier this year, and will return to New York for the May performances.
