Just last weekend, New York City experienced its first big storm of 2016. By Sunday morning, almost 27 inches of snow accumulated in the five boroughs (a tenth of an inch shy of the all-time record). Above ground subways stopped running by 4PM and all non-emergency vehicles were banned from the streets starting at 2:30PM, leaving New Yorkers next to no way to travel on Saturday. Hosted by Sirius XM Radio Star Seth Rudetsky whom the New York Times dubbed "The Mayor of Broadway," the popular series returns after kicking off the 2015/16 season at The Nourse Theater with "Glee" star Darren Criss in past fall.  Immediately preceding Rosie O'Donnell's performance will be Sutton Foster, star of the hit TV series "Younger" and Tony Award winner for Broadway's "Anything Goes" on Sunday, March 13th (rescheduled from Jan. 16th).  The Broadway @ The Nourse concert series will benefit San Francisco AIDS Foundation, Project Open Hand, and San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus.  Tickets are now on-sale - further information can be found at www.cityboxoffice.com/broadway or by calling (415) 392-4400. The NYC Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA) today announced results of a survey examining the diversity of staff and leadership at City-funded nonprofit cultural organizations. The survey release marks a major milestone in the agency's initiative to promote and cultivate diversity in the cultural community, building on the de Blasio Administration's commitment to making New York City a more fair and equitable city for every resident. The survey found that while New York City's cultural sector is far more diverse than cultural organizations on the national level, it lags behind the demographic diversity of the city's population. Jones, appoints Kim Cullen as its new Executive Director. Cullen began working for New York Live Arts in 2014 as the Producer of the 2015 Live Ideas festival curated by Laurie Anderson and joined the organization in the summer of 2015 as Interim Executive Director. Prior to her engagement at New York Live Arts, Cullen worked as free-lance producer in New York and Europe and served as Producing Director for Elizabeth Streb. During her tenure at Streb, the Streb Lab for Action Mechanics secured financing from the City of New York to purchase its Williamsburg Brooklyn building. (more...)

The Music Man opened Friday the 29th of January at The South Bend Civic Theatre with no detail spared on trying to make the classic musical come to life. The musical, whose book, music, and lyrics are by Meredith Willson with the story by both Willson and Franklin Lacey, became an instant hit in 1957 when it opened on Broadway. It won five Tony Awards, including 'Best Musical', and ran for more than 1,300 performances. It also inspired revivals, a film adaptation, a television remake, and won the first 'Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album'. (more...)
