Neil Simon's Rumors - one of the most popular stage farces of the late 20th century - is given its due with the fourth production at Nashville's iconic and I daresay historic Chaffin's Barn Dinner Theatre. Directed with panache by stage veteran Lydia Bushfield (who, herself, has starred in one of the four productions of Rumors at Chaffin's Barn over the past quarter-century), Simon's broadly drawn characters are brought vividly to life by a cast of capable and very funny actors who know how to land a line, deliver a rejoinder and, when called upon, play the straight man to help a fellow actor out when it comes time for him to shine. BWW Review: DEAD PILOTS SOCIETY Offers Look at TV Pilots That Never AiredBWW Review: DEAD PILOTS SOCIETY Offers Look at TV Pilots That Never Aired
by Shari Barrett - Apr 27, 2016

Every year, Hollywood studios spend millions upon millions of dollars on TV pilots, the “test shows” that networks order before deciding which shows should become full-fledged series or wind up being locked away in a vault never to be seen again. For every pilot that eventually airs, there are three that never will see daylight, even though there are thousands of hopeful writers, directors and actors in our town that work around-the-clock during “pilot season,” hoping their work will be picked up and make them a lot of money as a hit TV series. He finds a mysterious hole with a glowing light in a tree trunk and decides to peer inside, which causes him to fall down the deep hole. He continues to fall deeper and deeper until he lands in a magical world called Awesome-World. Caden quickly meets Nibble-Nabble, a talking gopher with green glasses. Nibble-Nabble leads Caden down a winding path that suddenly transforms into a slide. Together, they go on a fun adventure as Caden catches a glimpse of the magical world around him. After meeting several other speaking animals, Nibble-Nabble tells Caden that he's the prince of Awesome-World. Still craving more adventure, Nibble-Nabble takes Caden on the exciting trip to a magical waterfall, before handing him over to Rosco, Stevie and Bob, a three headed dragon. The dragon takes Caden on a thrilling adventure, which involves flying deep within a sputtering volcano, in order to retrieve a stone that allows Caden to travel between home and Awesome-World. BWW Blog: Marina Maldonado - Three Weeks Left: BYE BYE BIRDIEBWW Blog: Marina Maldonado - Three Weeks Left: BYE BYE BIRDIE
by Guest Blogger: Marina Maldonado - Apr 25, 2016

It's cutting down to the wire on our production of Bye Bye Birdie! We have about three weeks left until opening night on May 11th, and we have so much left to do. We've blocked and choreographed everything except 'Shriner's Ballet' and 'An English Teacher', so now it's time to polish our dances to make sure they look perfect! Choreography is such an important part of this show, so we definitely have to work extra hard with our choreographer and vocal director to make sure that when we dance, our vocals stay strong, which has been sort of a weak spot for us so far. Another huge part of this show is off-focus acting, which really comes into play the most during 'Honestly Sincere' as all the teens, adults, and even the Mayor's wife can't help but be mesmerized by Conrad's charm.  (more...)
