The New York Musical Festival (NYMF) and CPA Theatricals present Numbers Nerds, the [almost] all-girl math challenge, with book by Laura Stratford, Music by David Kornfeld, lyrics by Alex Higgin-Houser, additional music by Dylan MarcAurele and original story by Larry Little.  Amber Mak, New Works Development Director at Chicago's Paramount Theatre, directs and choreographs a cast of six, including Danielle Davila, Madison Kauffman, Jake Morrissy, Maisie Rose, Sharon Sachs (Film: 'Home Alone;'  TV: 'Weeds,' 'Dexter,' 'Grimm') and Tiffany Tatreau (Ride the Cyclone). MNM Productions presents Monty Python's Spamalot at the Kravis Center of the Performing Arts. Featuring music by John Du Prez and Eric Idle, and book and lyrics by Eric Idle, Monty Python's Spamalot is a musical comedy lovingly ripped-off from the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The title of the musical comes from a line in the movie which goes: 'we eat ham, and jam, and Spam a lot.' Like the film, written by Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin, it is a highly irreverent parody of the Arthurian Legend, but it differs from the film in many ways (more...)

University of Maryland and City of College Park Expand mBike Bike Share Program

COLLEGE PARK, MD(Marketwired - May 18, 2017) - The City of College Park, the University of Maryland and Zagster, Inc., today announced the expansion of the popular mBike bike share program. In response to high ridership and strong demand, the system has expanded to now feature 163 bikes at 19 stations, including new stations in neighboring University Park. New Canadian Global Music Orchestra Announces Touring and Recording Plans

A major initiative by The Royal Conservatory of Music, which celebrates the cultural diversity and pluralism of our great country as it turns 150, is the formation of the New Canadian Global Music Orchestra. This project, conceived by Mervon Mehta, Executive Director of Performing Arts, is led by Artistic Director David Buchbinder, the Juno Award-winning trumpeter, composer, bandleader, and cultural inventor. More than 100 Canadians hailing from 47 countries applied to be in the orchestra, out of which 12 members have been chosen after three rounds of auditions. (more...)

Promoting healthy fun for all ages, The Gateway Family YMCA is sponsoring a Kids' Run for grades K - 5 at the Cooke Memorial Football Field at the Union High School at 9:30 am on September 25, as part of the Union Township Chamber of Commerce's Sixth Annual 5K Run/Walk. Registration for children begins at 7:30am, and the cost to participate is $7. Applicants may register that morning or online at www.unionchamber.com. A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit a ALS, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
