Liza Minnelli to Discuss Parents' Legacy on Turner Classic Movies

Hollywood icon Liza Minnelli - whose brilliant career has earned her an Oscar, an Emmy, a Grammy and four Tony Awards - will sit down with Turner Classic Movies (TCM) host Robert Osborne for PRIVATE SCREENINGS: LIZA MINNELLI, an in-depth interview special slated to premiere Saturday, Dec. 11, at 10 p.m. (ET/PT). Rather than focusing on Minnelli herself, this special will take the unique approach of centering on the lives and careers of Minnelli's legendary parents, Judy Garland and Vincente Minnelli. In conjunction with the premiere, TCM will pack two nights (Dec. 11-12) with films starring Garland, directed by Vincente Minnelli and/or starring Liza Minnelli. (more...)

Immediate Medium Presents THE ASSASSINS CHASE PINOCCHIO

Immediate Medium returns to Clemente Soto Velez Cultural & Educational Center during the 2012 APAP Conference with The Assassins Chase Pinocchio, an experimental multimedia adaptation of Carlo Collodi's original 1883 coming-of-age tale, The Adventures of Pinocchio. Featuring a 20-foot shark's mouth created using only a video camera and a zipper, an anarchic children's dance party on the Island of Crazy Sweet Candy Chaos, and a psychedelic soundtrack by indie rockers Alex Bleeker of Real Estate (Best Albums of October 2011, BBC Music) and G. Lucas Crane of Woods (Best New Music, Pitchfork), the show uses a playful mix of physical comedy and experimental theater techniques to introduce Immediate Medium's interdisciplinary aesthetic to a new, yet very avant-garde audience: children. Performances will take place at Clemente Soto Velez Cultural & Educational Center, 107 Suffolk Street, New York, N.Y., on Friday, January 6 at 7:00pm, and Saturday, January 7 and Sunday, January 8 at 2pm and 5pm. Musical Adaptations ONCE/TWICE Open at Roy Arias Stage IV Tonight

PASSAJJ Productions is proud to present Once/Twice, two musical adaptations by veteran composer and lyricist Paul Dick (A For Adultery, Madame Bovary). Once is an adaptation of the short play A Sunny Morning by Serafin and Joaquin Quintero, while Twice is based on The Bear by Anton Chekhov. Once/Twice will be directed by Celine Rosenthal, with music direction by Ming Aldrich-Gan. This production will open tonight, May 16th at 8pm and run through June 1st at Roy Arias Stage IV at the Times Square Arts Center, 300 West 43rd Street in New York City. (more...)
