Cortland Repertory Theatre has announced the nominees for their fourteenth annual "Pavilion Awards" which recognize Outstanding Achievement in local high school theatre. Musicals in consideration were held at the Cortland, Dryden, Groton, Homer, McGraw and Tully High Schools. Michael Onabanjo-Whittaker and Sara Rajeswaran Lead Staged Concert of RAGTIME at Bishopsgate Institute

Under amateur licence from Josef Weinberger Ltd., Bishopsgate Institute and Centre Stage London will perform a staged concert of Ahrens and Flaherty's Ragtime - The Musical for six performances only in June 2016. Ragtime - The Musical  is based on the 1975 novel Ragtime by E L Doctorow and features music by Stephen Flaherty,  lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and book by Terrence McNally - all of which won Tony Awards in 1998. This production will run at the Bishopsgate Institute in the heart of the City of London from 14 to 19 June. (more...)

Nominations for the 2016 Fred and Adele Astaire Awards, which honor outstanding dance and choreography on stage and screen, were announced today at the Friar's Club by New York Post columnist Michael Riedel. For the first time, the Fred and Adele Astaire Awards have explored recognizing excellence in dance, movement, and choreography off-Broadway. Twenty eligible shows in the non-profit and commercial off-Broadway arenas met the eligibility requirements and were considered. (more...)

The Lobby Project, a series of free pre-show events presented in conjunction with New York City Center's Encores! Off-Center season, will take place July 6-9 & 27-30. These events provide an insightful exploration of the topics and themes presented in the season's musicals through performances, conversations with artists and experts, workshops, and a Menken Mixtape contest in which the winners will perform their Alan Menken remixes for Menken himself. Gallery Players continues its 49th season with the Seussical, the fantastic family musical based on the books of Dr. Seuss.  Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Lucky Stiff, My Favorite Year, Once On The Island and Ragtime)  have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite characters, with a rich and dazzling score to create an almost entirely sung-through show that transforms the theatre into the Jungle of Nool, the Circus McGurkus, the invisible world of the Whos, and beyond.  Seussical will be helmed by Barrie Gelles, with musical direction by Trevor M.
