BWW Recap: Wins and Losses Explored on This Week's MODERN FAMILYBWW Recap: Wins and Losses Explored on This Week's MODERN FAMILY
by Matt Smith - Oct 16, 2014

This week's episode moves the Dunphys from their house to “the last room at a hotel nearby”; as Claire explains in the opening confessional, they have to vacate the house — for one night — as it's treated for mold. Claire's thinking positively about the family-of-five sharing a room — again, it's only for one night — though a cut to the hotel shows us their stay's been delayed; it's day five, and it's looking anything but the positive experience Claire was hoping for: Luke and Alex butt heads when he interferes with her cello practice, while Claire and Haley quarrel about sharing WiFi usage; Luke then turns on a blender which sets off the dogs in the room next door (which they can hear due to the ever-cliché paper-thin walls). Oh, yes. And in the middle of all this, Phil's found a Charleston Chew, which — to give you a clearer idea of the state of the motel (if you couldn't already tell) — advertises a contest from 2005. The night doesn't get any better, wherein the various members of the family have to climb over each other to exit the bed; except for Luke, who sleeps in the tub. With the single flush of a toilet, the neighboring dogs begin to bark, and the cycle begins again. Yes, the humor here is a bit forced, but it does set up a good storyline, which I'm interested to see played out. (more...)

DCA is a leading manufacturer's representative firm for pool and spa equipment, serving retailers throughout the Southern and Western regions of the U.S. The company used to manage its operations and document file sharing the "old fashioned" way with mountains of paper and files. To help save time and improve productivity the company took the office paperless. At first, they put everything into a local server, but that proved to be unreliable. Because DCA is based in the storm-heavy state of Florida, the company experienced power surges that would cause the server to go down when lightning struck. After a time, this became a constant frustration - and expense - as damaged server parts needed to be replaced and data backups were adding extra time to the office staff's day. (more...)

I OUGHT TO BE IN PICTURES with Richard Karn to Open 2/12 at Alhambra
by BWW News Desk - Jan 28, 2014

In 1984 Tod Booth was hired to direct at the then-named Alhambra Dinner Theatre. The show? I Ought to be in Pictures starring Claude Akins. Five weeks later, on a return trip to watch a show, while sitting at table B15 with owner Leon Simon, Tod made an offer to buy the Alhambra. The deal was done on a napkin. In two years he took the gross revenue from $700,000 to $2,500,000 and was named 'Entrepreneur of the Year' by the Jacksonville Business Journal. The rest, as Tod says, 'is history.' While not necessarily billed as an anniversary, it's hard to miss the parallels between the 1984 production and the 2014 production: Tod is still directing and the Alhambra is still bringing in big-name guest stars, this time Richard Karn from television's Home Improvement. I Ought to be in Pictures opens February 12, 2014 at the nation's longest running professional dinner theater. (more...)
