Its young writers Julie Soto, Ryan Warren, and composer Will Finan had found a way to tell a story about teen suicide that was relatable to both youth and adults alike. T. Schreiber Theater Announces 2016-17 Season

T. Schreiber Theatre, under the direction of Terry Schreiber and Peter Jensen, celebrates its 48th season with an eclectic mix of established plays and new works. The season opens with the New York revival of Stephen Adly Guirgis play The Motherf**ker with the Hat directed by Peter Jensen, which premiered on Broadway in 2011 and was nominated for 6 Tony awards. The season also includes Schreiber Shorts, an Evening Of One-Act Plays to feature 8 new works. Founder Terry Schreiber will direct the spring production, Loose Ends, the well known drama by Michael Weller. The season will culminate with the New Works Project, directed by Jake Turner, which will showcase a workshop production of one full length play. The season will be produced in full by Halle Morse, T. Schreiber's recently appointed Producing Director. (more...)

Jane Austen's PRIDE AND PREJUDICE Opens at Cal State Fullerton on November 4

Cal State Fullerton's production of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, adapted by Jon Jory, is directed by Professor Mark Ramont and runs November 4-20, 2016 in the Young Theatre on campus. Adaptor Jon Jory was the longtime producing director of Actors Theatre of Louisville who helped form the Humana Festival of New American Plays that produced several notable plays such as "The Gin Games" by Donald L. Colburn, "Crimes of the Heart" by Beth Henley and "Dinner with Friends" by Donald Margulies. In 2000, Mr. Jory's successful career led him to be inducted into the American Theatre Hall of Fame. Alice Haig, Vince Leigh, Shvorne Marks and Ciarán Owens will lead the world premiere, directed by Mel Hillyard as recipient of the J.P. Morgan Emerging Director Award 2015, with designs from Hyemi Shin, and sound design and composition by Tom Gibbons. So begins "Dead Man's Cell Phone", a wildly imaginative and off-center romantic comedy by MacArthur 'Genius' Grant recipient and Pulitzer Prize finalist, Sarah Ruhl. "Dead Man's Cell Phone", directed by Sharon Winegar, is the final production of Sierra Stages' 2016 season and plays for three weekends only from September 29 through October 16 at the Off Center Stage in Grass Valley.
