Helen Hayes Award winner and former Arena Stage Associate Artistic Director Kyle Donnelly returns to direct the D.C.-area premiere of the show with a cast that features Tony Award nominee and two-time Helen Hayes Award winner Helen Carey (Mary Tyrone in Arena Stage's Long Day's Journey into Night, Broadway's Hedda Gabler) as matriarch Polly Wyeth and two-time Tony Award nominee Larry Bryggman (Broadway's Harvey, CBS's As the World Turns) as patriarch Lyman Wyeth. Public booking will open this Friday, 4 July, at 9.30am, for performances until 10 January 2015. Great Britain is designed by Tim Hatley, with video design by 59 Productions, lighting by Neil Austin, music by Grant Olding and sound by Paul Arditti. According to the BBC, departing Director of the National Theatre Nicholas Hytner just revealed that after he leaves in 2015, he and executive director Nick Starr will create a new theatre company. He told BBC: 'I will make theatre for a new company that will, we hope, find new ways of making commercial theatre. Plans are not finished and set in stone. I'm going to continue working with Nick Starr and we will continue, we hope, to produce theatre in the commercial sector.' (more...)
