The Geffen Playhouse announces its production of The Gospel According to Thomas Jefferson, Charles Dickens and Count Leo Tolstoy: Discord. Written by Scott Carter, executive producer and writer for Bill Maher's Politically Incorrect and Real Time, this whip-smart philosophical comedy features Larry Cedar (Deadwood, PBS's Square One TV), David Melville (Travel Channel Lawrence of America, film Ironclad) and Armin Shimerman (Quark on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Associate Artistic Director at The Antaeus Company) and will be again helmed by director, Matt August (Broadway How the Grinch Stole Christmas). Off-Broadway's award-winning Irish Repertory Theatre announces that its current production, the revival of Gardner McKay's SEA MARKS, directed by Ciaran O'Reilly, will extend through Sunday, July 13, 2014 (the production was originally scheduled to be performed through June 15th). The romantic two-hander stars Tony and Drama Desk Award nominee Xanthe Elbrick (CORAM BOY, Irish Rep's CANDIDA) and Patrick Fitzgerald (Irish Rep's GIBRALTAR). SEA MARKS began performances on April 23rd and opened on May 5th. SEA MARKS is now playing on the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage of the Irish Repertory Theatre (132 West 22nd Street). (more...)

When a middle-aged scientist goes undercover to experience low paying jobs she learns about 'Not Getting by in America'. Working as a maid, a waitress, and an 'associate' at Mall Mart led Barbara Ehrenreich to her best-selling book Nickel and Dimed and then to the play of that name by Joan Holden. Starting September 12th, The Adobe Theater will present this dramatic work, directed by Brian Hansen. A number of actors will portray a wide variety of characters as Colleen McLure (most recently seen in Lend Me A Tenor at The Adobe and in Juno and the Paycock at The Vortex) playing 'Barbara' attempts to make ends meet while phoning her boyfriend to assure him she is managing okay (even when she isn't). Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse Artistic Director Gemma Bodinetz will direct Sean O'Casey's Juno and the Paycock in a major co-production with Bristol Old Vic. The cast will be led by Niamh Cusack as the eponymous Juno and Des McAleer as her husband Jack Boyle. Though times were tough in Limerick, the tales spun by the brothers McCourt simmer with bittersweet recollections, ferocious humor and a parade of colorful characters from the priest who warns of sinners' eyeballs exploding in hell to the McCourt grandmother who spits on Franks unruly Presbyterian hair to tame it. Irish Rep's SEA MARKS Opens 5/5 Off-Broadway

Off-Broadway's award-winning Irish Repertory Theatre proudly announces the final production of its 2013-2014 Season, a revival of Gardner McKay's SEA MARKS, directed by Ciaran O'Reilly. The romantic two-hander will star Tony and Drama Desk Award nominee Xanthe Elbrick (CORAM BOY, Irish Rep's CANDIDA) and Patrick Fitzgerald (Irish Rep's GIBRALTAR). SEA MARKS will be performed April 23rd through June 15th on the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage of the Irish Repertory Theatre (132 West 22nd Street).
