BWW Reviews: TAM Serves Up Gothic Horror in TURN OF THE SCREWBWW Reviews: TAM Serves Up Gothic Horror in TURN OF THE SCREW
by Carla Maria Verdino-Süllwold - Jul 27, 2015

In this 2015 season of 'Magic, Murder, and Mayhem' Maine's Theater at Monmouth serves up a gripping adaptation of Henry James' familiar tale of psychological Gothic horror, The Turn of the Screw. The novella tells the story of a governess' battle to wrench her two young charges from the grasp of spirits who haunt their estate and to probe the dark secrets which exert a debilitating psychological hold on everyone at Bly. Adapted here by Jeffrey Hatcher as a two person drama in which one actor plays all the characters other than the governess, TAM's seventy-five minute production has a lean look and taut pace that rivet even an audience familiar with the work. BWW Reviews: Sierra Madre Playhouse Goes CRAZY for Patsy ClineBWW Reviews: Sierra Madre Playhouse Goes CRAZY for Patsy Cline
by Don Grigware - Aug 3, 2015

Popular across the country for many years, Always Patsy Cline celebrates country/pop singing superstar Patsy Cline, her music and her warm down.to.earth persona. Endearing from the get go, the show's success depends on the right casting. Its two actresses must be perfect fits for their roles. Louise Seger is a diehard fan of Patsy Cline. She's all Texan, has an exuberant personality and is over.the.top humorous, and of course, Patsy is Patsy. The actress playing her must look pretty and just right in those curly black wigs, and most urgently be able to duplicate Cline's unique vocal stylings. Well, the Sierra Madre Playhouse and director Robert Marra have hit the jackpot with its two leading ladies, Nikki   D'Amico as Louise and Cori Cable Kidder as Cline. With the overabundant charm exuded by both stars and backed by a superb five-piece combo that includes terrific musical director Sean Paxton at the piano, Always Patsy Cline should take audiences over the rainbow, through September 12. Jeffrey Foucault to Release 'SALT AS WOLVES' in OctoberJeffrey Foucault to Release 'SALT AS WOLVES' in October
by BWW News Desk - Aug 3, 2015

A show played perfectly to an empty bar. A singer with life and death on his shoulders, swinging a microphone like Samson swung a jawbone. The real ones who die with nothing half the time. With Salt As Wolves - his fifth collection of original songs - Jeffrey Foucault gives us what poet and author Chris Dombrowski calls in the album's liner notes, “that rare artistic combination of a voice and a world:” a tough, spare collection of darkly rendered blues and ballads, like a field recording of a place that never existed. In a series of letters to lovers, friends, heroes, and family, Foucault deftly weaves together disparate strands of sound and experience, raw love, and hard wisdom. Jeffrey Foucault will release Salt As Wolves on October 16 via Blueblade Records (more...)
