THE OUTGOING TIDE to Close Chenango River Theatre's Season, 9/27-10/13

And it's a play every theatre in the country has coveted getting the rights to perform. One of the very first theatre companies to win that right is the Binghamton area's own Chenango River Theatre. On Sept. 27, the theatre opens the regional premiere of a sensational new drama by Bruce Graham titled The Outgoing Tide. It's first and foremost a love story - a 50 year marriage now visited by an unwelcome intruder - the loss of memory - in a deeply moving, surprisingly funny, straight talking story that runs smack dab into what happens when we know we're seeing the end of the road, how we want to deal with that and how that affects our family. Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announces the cast and creative team for Alan Ayckbourn's science fiction comedy Communicating Doors. Eleven plays penned by Alan Ayckbourn have been produced by the Alley, including the American premiere of Henceforward, directed by Ayckbourn, in 1987 and House & Garden in 2002. Alan Ayckbourn has been inducted into the American Theatre's Hall of Fame, received the 2010 Critics' Circle Award for Services to the Arts, became the first British playwright to receive both Olivier and Tony Special Lifetime Achievement Awards and was knighted in 1997 for services to the theatre. Arena Stage Presents Lookingglass's METAMORPHOSES, 2/8-3/17

Following its acclaimed 16-week run at the Lookingglass Theatre Company this fall, Metamorphoses brings the mythical tales of Ovid to life at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater, 10 years after the Broadway premiere. Written and directed by Tony Award winner Mary Zimmerman, Metamorphoses is based on David Slavitt's translation and marks the first time Zimmerman will direct the production since its Broadway run. This is also the first time Zimmerman will stage Metamorphoses in the round, and a custom set will be designed with the largest pool of water ever created for this production.
