BWW Review: Powerful THE CHILDREN'S HOUR at The Gamm

Lillian Hellman's THE CHILDREN'S HOUR is a classic play, which premiered in 1934 and is just as timely and relevant today.  The Gamm's production is a near-flawless retelling of this disturbing story about how much words matter and how the power of a lie can have repercussions far greater than expected.  The intricate and methodical script comes to life under the talents of Madeleine Lambert and Gamm resident actor Karen Carpenter and as two women who run an all-girls boarding school and find themselves with a pupil who seeks to destroy anything that gets in the way of her agenda. 'My Name Is... The Lost Children of Kloster Indersorf' Opens Today at the Museum of Jewish Heritage

Some of these "lost" children found refuge and relatives through a United Nations-sponsored relief center in a former convent named Kloster Indersdorf. These children are the subject of a new exhibition, titled My Name Is… The Lost Children of Kloster Indersdorf, at the Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust. Artist William Onyeabor Passes Away at Aged 70

It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we have to announce that the great Nigerian business leader and mythic music pioneer William Onyeabor has passed away at the age of 70. He died peacefully in his sleep following a brief illness, at his Home in Enugu, Nigeria. An extraordinary artist, businessman and visionary, Mr. Onyeabor composed and self-released 9 brilliant albums of groundbreaking electronic-funk from 1977-1985, which he recorded, pressed and printed at Wilfilms Limited—his personal pressing plant in southeast Nigeria. Henderson County High School and Flat Rock Playhouse Studio 52 Team Up for 4th Annual 24 Hour Playwriting/Production Challenge

Beginning Friday, January 20, HCPS high school theatre students and teachers will team up with Flat Rock Playhouse artists to write, direct, and perform four original 10-minute plays.  Four writing teams made up of one Flat Rock Playhouse mentor and four student writers representing each high school will convene Friday at 4:30pm.  By 10:30pm Friday, each writing team will have written one 10-minute play.  The scripts will be sent to one of the four high school theatre teachers, serving as directors, who will make preparations for rehearsals beginning at 9:00 AM Saturday, January 21.   (more...)

Irish Arts Center Presents MULDOON'S PICNIC
