As an alternative to an almost certain death-by-shelter, many well-intended individuals have "rescued" animals from area shelters in an effort to save lives, then boarded them in private facilities only to abandon them later as the kennel bills mounted. 'Nothing changes, does it?' asks Margaret Thompson on the fourth episode of season five of BOARDWALK EMPIRE. We're halfway through the final season of the show, so what else should we expect, but plenty of renunions and our fair share of brutal deaths. The episode entitled 'Cuanto' which is spanish for 'how much?' opens up with a flashback that we follow through the entire episode. Nucky gets laid off from the Commodore as summer is over and when he returns home, he finds his house locked and little Eli sitting on the front steps. The air was crackling with excitement on opening night for the much anticipated revival of Pippin at San Francisco's Golden Gate Theatre. And for good reason. The show won four Tony Awards last year including Best Musical Revival, with Diane Paulus taking home the Tony for Best Director. Patina Miller as the Leading Player took home Best Actress, while Andrea Martin won Best Featured Actress. Not to be outdone, the national tour signed Sasha Allen, Lucie Arnaz, and John Rubinstein, not to mention Canada's circus troupe, Les 7 doigts de la main. Talk about the wow factor. Pippin is an exuberant, extravaganza of a show and it plays now through October 19 at SHN's Golden Gate Theatre. (more...)
