She placed them first in a network of foster families she developed herself and found permanent families for all of them. It's no surprise that just three years later, at age 16, this bright, spunky girl has written and published her first book a 344-page, sci-fi thriller in the spirit of bestselling YA fare like The Hunger Games, Divergent and Fifth Wave.
