Based on the stories and characters by Damon Runyon, with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, Guys and Dolls will be directed and choreographed by Josh Rhodes, returning to the Globe after the great successes of Ken Ludwig's Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery, which he directed, and Bright Star, which he choreographed. The non-fiction book describes in first person the scandalous self-destructive relationship between department store scion and Ronald Reagan Kitchen Cabinet Member, Alfred Bloomingdale, and Vicki Morgan, his mistress of some thirteen years. BWW Review: STAGES St. Louis' Uproariously Funny THE DROWSY CHAPERONE

You say that you're feeling a little blue, or maybe just experiencing some 'non-specific' sadness? Then a sure cure for your condition can be found by attending STAGES St. Louis' scintillating presentation of THE DROWSY CHAPERONE. This is an incredible and uproariously funny show that pokes gentle fun at the very core of musical theatre conventions. Everything is fair game in Bob Martin and Don McKellar's witty script, which even manages to lampoon opening blackouts and intermissions. This revival is a much welcomed and thoroughly enjoyable experience, and I can't remember the last time I've laughed so hard! (more...)

BOOB TREK! Hotsy Totsy Burlesque's Tribute to Star Trek

Before James T. Kirk was the Captain of the Enterprise, there was Captain Christopher Pike… but that was before the debilitating accident that left him unable to speak or move. Now, Captain Pike lives on the planet of Talos IV (see The Menagerie - Classic Trek Season 1 Episodes 11 & 12) and the Talosians are able to alter human brain waves, allowing Captain Pike to live out the rest of his life in a virtual fantasy land of his own design. The Talosions are also obsessed with sex (watch the episode and see for yourself); with this in mind, every month Captain Pike creates an imaginary burlesque show for the Talosians, as a way of saying thank you. But today, something has gone horribly wrong, someone who he has not imagined has infiltrated the show, her name is Lwaxana Troi, daughter of the Fifth House, holder of the Sacred Chalice of Rixx, heir to the Holy Rings of Betazed. Playhouse Players Youth Production of BUGSY MALONE JR. Opens 7/29

'Take a Shot' with Buck Creek Players as we wrap up our 42nd season of quality theater with The Playhouse Players Youth Production of BUGSY MALONE JR. Opening on Friday, July 29th, and continuing for two weekends through August 7th, curtain times are at 8PM on Friday and Saturday, with 2:30PM matinees on Sunday. All performances will be held at the Buck Creek Playhouse, 11150 Southeastern Avenue. A biennial fundraiser for The Blaine Jarrett Memorial Scholarship Fund, admission is $18 for everyone, with $3 from every ticket automatically donated to the scholarship fund. Desert Theatreworks (DTW), Palm Desert's 501(c)(3) community theatre, has received 64 nominations for the Desert Theatre League's 2016 Desert Star awards, the most of any company. Lance and Ron Phillips-Martinez, the spouses who serve as DTW's artistic director and executive director, respectively, sat down with Broadway World to discuss the company's nominations and its upcoming season.
