Tatsuya Nakadai Set for THE FACE OF ANOTHER Screening at Museum of the Moving Image, 5/17

Tatsuya Nakadai (b. 1932) is one of the greatest actors in the history of contemporary cinema, starring in more than 140 movies by directors including Akira Kurosawa, Masaki Kobayashi, Kon Ichikawa, and Mikio Naruse. His versatility and the electrifying intensity of his performances are legendary, and lie at the heart of a career lasting more than six decades. On Saturday, May 17, at 3:00 p.m., Museum of the Moving Image will present a personal appearance by Nakadai with a screening of one of his most astonishing films, The Face of Another, a doppelgänger tale directed by Hiroshi Teshigahara (Woman of the Dunes). The screening will be followed by a conversation with Nakadai moderated by Terrence Rafferty, former New Yorker film critic and frequent contributor at The New York Times. (more...)

Oakland University Presents L'INCORONAZIONE DI POPPEA Today

Add music and drama together and the result is opera, a truly thrilling live arts experience. Oakland University's music program will put on a fully staged production of 'L'incoronazione di Poppea' by Claudio Monteverdi, with a libretto by Giovanni Francesco Busenello. The opera was first performed in Venice in 1643 during the Carnival season. It tells the story of Poppea, mistress of the Roman emperor Nero, and her rise to empress. This early work, which was rediscovered in the late 19th century after being lost for more than 200 years, will be sung in Italian with English supertitles. (more...)

Cherry, however, believes she is her hero, Olenna Tyrell, the murderous grandmother who (spoiler alert) just confessed to killing King Joffrey. One thing that isn't known is the variety of programming Crown Point Community Theatre is producing. OBERON launched this multi-year program of work and mentorship with three local performance groups: Liars & Believers, Boston Circus Guild, and Touch Performance Art.
