The third program in Early Music New York's 45th anniversary season under the rubric 'Harmony of the Spheres' will open, fittingly, with an early symphony by William Herschel, who would go on to become the foremost astronomer of his age, and discoverer of the seventh planet, Uranus. The composers on this program will emerge from the eclipsing shadow of the classical period's 'stars' (Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven) to illuminate an era of almost infinite variety with music deserving of discovery.

The Rubin Museum of Art has announced its first exhibition of 2020, 'Measure Your Existence,' a new group show organized by guest curator of contemporary art, Christine Starkman. Opening February 7, 2020, the exhibition will feature six contemporary artists who address the fleeting nature of existence through performance, installation, film, sculpture, and photography.

In his second season as principal conductor, Bernard Labadie leads Orchestra of St. Luke's (OSL) in its 33rd concert series in Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. The series begins with Italian pianist Beatrice Rana joining OSL for two Bach keyboard concertos on Thursday, October 17 at 8:00 p.m. The program is bookended by two works by Mendelssohn: The Hebrides Overture and a?oeScottisha?? Carrie a?" The Musical was the final production of this year's graduating class of the Stage School in Hamburg. Felix Löwy and Lauren Slater-Klein directed the show. It was produced by Thomes Gehle and performed 40 times this July and August at the First Stage Theatre. The musical's book is by Lawrence D. Cohen, with lyrics by Dean Pitchford and music by Michael Gore. The story is based on Stephen King's novel Carrie, published in 1974. It is about a teenage girl who is raised by her religious fanatic mother. Bullied at school and oppressed by her classmates, she unleashes telekinetic powers which lead to a fatal climax at the school's prom night.

They're as important as anybody else who's ever been, ever; it just wasn't their time. Revivify Fanny. And I will feel that my work is done."
