From Cedar Grove Books: Draculiza Flies Into BookstoresFrom Cedar Grove Books: Draculiza Flies Into Bookstores
by BWW News Desk - Nov 29, 2015

A young vampire girl wishes to be a fairy princess. Having an imagination and wishing on that has always been something everyone does. Draculiza is no different. Her problem, though, is she wants to be a fairy princess; however as fate would have it that's a bit of impossible because she's a vampire. Despite her mother telling her why she can't have this dream, she refuses to listen. She comes up with a plan and with her advisor, her pet bat, Spike, Draculiza sets out on an adventure to make her dream come true. First time children's book author Bianca Bagatourian says, "We all have a little princess inside, and they're not all necessarily blonde with blue eyes. When I was growing up, none of the princesses in Fairy Tales looked like me. It was confusing! I wanted to write a story that emphasized the idea that we can all shine!' by BWW News Desk - Nov 21, 2015

Nicole Rivera, founder of Max P. Productions and author of the children's book "Max the Shelter Dog," has published her latest book titled "Max Saves Christmas." It is a lively and imaginative story that has positive messages about avoiding stereotypes and overcoming fears and obstacles with positive thinking. BWW Review: The Orpheum Offers a Flippin' PIPPINBWW Review: The Orpheum Offers a Flippin' PIPPIN
by Joseph Baker - Nov 18, 2015

There are the warhorse musicals of Rodgers and Hammerstein, Cole Porter, and Irving Berlin; there are the lavish productions befitting Phantoms in opera houses and French revolutionaries and revisionist Fairy Tales (and you know the ones I mean); there are the Disney powerhouses; and . . . there are musicals of a quaint, mind-nudging nature that don't quite fit into any category. Certainly THE FANTASTICKS comes to mind, and -- at least in the previous productions I have seen -- Stephen Schwartz's PIPPIN. Somewhere in my video collection is a filmed version of the musical with William Katt, and just a few years ago PIPPIN was the first musical staged at the shiny, new Playhouse on the Square (with Alvaro Francisco stepping in for a sidelined Jordan Nichols). I sometimes think that small-scale musicals are better suited to venues less grand than the Orpheum; I needn't have worried, however, as PIPPIN has acquired the kind of theatrical, Cirque du Soleil-style atmosphere that perfectly suits the show's opening number, 'Magic to Do.' Directed by Amy Poisson, the cast of 'The Twelfth Story' was as jubilant as spritely camp counselors. As a child, I think I would have liked the story's magic, goblins, twinkling lights and Fairy Tales. Unfortunately, due to an overlong script and lack of depth, my adult self was a bit bored.
