Rehearsals have begun for David Mamet's fiendishly funny comedy "November," which will be presented at the Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum, September 26 through November 4, 2012. Producers Jeffrey Richards and Jerry Frankel announced that the American premiere of THE ANARCHIST, the new play about politics, money, religion and sex, written and directed by DAVID MAMET. The production will star two-time Tony Award winner PATTI LUPONE, who has previously appeared in Mamet's The Woods, All Men are Whores, The Blue Hour, The Water Engine, Edmond and The Old Neighborhood and three-time Emmy Award winner LAURIE METCALF, who was nominated for a 2008 Tony Award for her performance in Mamet's November. THE ANARCHIST, which marks the sixth collaboration between Richards, Frankel and Mamet, will open on Broadway in Fall 2012. (more...)

As BroadwayWorld reported earlier this week, David Mamet's 1984 play Glengarry Glen Ross is heading back to Broadway, this time starring Al Pacino as leading man, 'Shelly "The Machine" Levene.' Pacino previously played 'Richard Roma' the the 1992 film adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play. Daniel Sullivan is attached to direct the project. The New York Times has confirmed that the show will begin previews on October 16 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater. Opening night is set for November 11. (more...)

Though at first it may seem like an odd pairing of one acts, there's actually a connection between playwright Christopher Durang's introductory work, MRS. SORKEN and David Mamet's THE Duck Variations. Towards the end of Mrs. Sorken, a direct reference is made to the the plays of David Mamet, and his frequent use of the "f word". It's an ironic one, since this is one of the few pieces in which Mamet doesn't use that particular curse word. Mustard Seed Theatre's production of these two plays is very well done, and it features three incredibly good performances that make this pair well worth seeing. (more...)

Jazz Choreography Enterprises, Inc. presents New York Jazz Choreography Project for its semiannual dance concert devoted exclusively to jazz. JCE features works from emerging to established choreographers, and this year, the performance will feature works from seasoned jazz veterans Sue Samuels and Crystal Chapman. Newcomers include Tyrell V. Rolle, who was featured on 'SYTYCD' in 2010, and Matt Pardo, a dancer from the Lucinda Childs Dance Company. (more...)
