Utah Symphony Announces Contract Extension for Music Director Thierry Fischer Through 2021-22 Season

Utah Symphony | Utah Opera President and CEO Paul Meecham and Board Chair Dave Petersen today announced an extension of Thierry Fischer's contract as Utah Symphony Music Director through the 2021-22 season. The agreement extends the current contract, set to expire at the end of the 2018-19 season, for an additional three years. Mr. Fischer was named Music Director in September 2009, and his first full season in this role was the Utah Symphony's 2011-12 season. (more...)

Featuring music by John Du Prez and Eric Idle, and book and lyrics by Eric Idle, Monty Python's Spamalot is a musical comedy lovingly ripped-off from the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The title of the musical comes from a line in the movie which goes: 'we eat ham, and jam, and Spam a lot.' Like the film, written by Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin, it is a highly irreverent parody of the Arthurian Legend, but it differs from the film in many ways (more...)

Theater of Others Updates 400-Year-Old Comedy THE ROARING GIRL 6/16- 7/2

Theater of Others continues its fearless foray into the plays of Shakespeare and his contemporaries with Thomas Middleton and Thomas Dekker's 1611 comedy, The Roaring Girl, or Moll Cutpurse.  Moll is a dramatization of the life of Mary Frith, a carouser, cross-dresser, pickpocket, and street brawler in the lower depths of 17th century London.  Gaby Schneider directs a cast of fourteen at the Theater of Others' home, the Kelly Cullen Community Auditorium, 220 Golden Gate Avenue in San Francisco. The Roaring Girl, or Moll Cutpurse runs Thursdays through Sundays, June 16-July 2.  As with all Theater of Others productions, admission is Pay-What-You-Will. (more...)

Newport Classical Music Festival's 49th Season Features 56 Performances by 80 Artists

When it comes to covering a lot of ground, Newport's oldest and largest festival gets it done. The Newport Music Festival, now in its 49th season, will host 56 concerts in just over two weeks between July 7 and 23. From dusk to Dawn, the festival, in partnership with the Preservation Society of Newport County, takes over the grand halls and lawns of many of the city's celebrated Gilded Age mansions - from The Breakers to The Elms, and Chateau-sur-Mer to Rosecliff, a backdrop as magical as the music itself.
