Theatre of Europe and Chelsea Theatre were granted Arts Council England funding to pilot a year of adventurous work from the continent in repertory. The Season opens with Danish company Fix&Foxy staging Ibsen's A DOLL'S HOUSE in different people's homes around London, followed by an audio tour by German/Swiss company Rimini Protokoll (Kaegi/Karrenbauer) through the streets of the city. Third Rail Projects' critically acclaimed production of THEN SHE FELL will celebrate its 3-year anniversary on October 6 -- which also marks its 1,704th performance. This immersive theater event is inspired by the life and writings of Lewis Carroll (Alice's Adventures in Wonderland). It is written, directed, designed and choreographed by Zach Morris, Tom Pearson and Jennine Willett in collaboration with The Company. Performances take place at The Kingsland Ward at St. Johns, a century-old institutional building in Williamsburg, Brooklyn that allows the action to play out on 3 floors. It's Halloween weekend and every dramatic personage and theatrical type we've ever encountered is caught up in the annual rush to find just the right costume for their holiday revelries (we confess we've never had the knack for coming up with Halloween get-ups - not since we went in drag to a party at the First Baptist Church as the age of 12…tongues were wagging, we are certain, but we lived to tell about it, so it couldn't have been that bad). In the meantime, there are all sorts of onstage happenings this weekend to keep you otherwise engaged should the difficulty of selecting your costume prove to be too much. (more...)

On Thursday, June 16th Third Rail Projects will celebrate the 200th performance of their critically acclaimed production of THE GRAND PARADISE, a fully immersive, multi-sensory experience in which visitors travel to a tropical paradise. Performances take place at The Grand Paradise, a venue in Bushwick, Brooklyn custom-built for the production, where it opened on January 30th and became one of Off-Broadway's biggest hits of the season.  A post-performance celebration will follow the 200th performance on June 16th. Gorilla Rep's Free Shakespeare Presentation Returns

Along with the dog days of August Gorilla Rep's annual FREE performances of William Shakespeare's classic comedy, A Midsummer Night's Dream, returns to NYC.  The fun family-friendly show can be seen at the Southwest corner of Washington Square Park every Thursday through Sunday at 8 p.m. from August 11 through September 4, 2016.  The production is being remounted by long-time company member actor Greg Petrol, who also plays Oberon, as he has for years.  As is the Gorilla Rep tradition since its inception in 1989, the performance will be immersive and mobile. After the sold-out and award-winning success of The Day Shall Declare It in 2015, Wilderness returns to the Los Angeles Arts District to remount its immersive, site-specific theatre experience, opening Tuesday, May 10, 2016 and running through Sunday, June 19, 2016. The internationally acclaimed physical theatre piece weaves together dynamic movement with a collage of American labor literature from Tennessee Williams and Studs Terkel, exploring the concept of work in America: what it does for us - and what it does to us. Developed and co-directed by Annie Saunders and Sophie Bortolussi (Punchdrunk's Sleep No More), The Day Shall Declare It will run for a limited time, to audiences of only thirty people per show. The intimate performances will run six nights a week, Tuesday through Sunday, with doors opening at 8:00pm and performances beginning at 8:30pm. The 2016 version sees the addition of  "The Paradise," an exclusive pop-up bar with live music curated by Vagrant Bartenders. Wilderness, an experimental performance company that brings temporary theatrical experiences to vacant buildings awaiting redevelopment, presents this work in partnership with Ad Age Standout 2015 production company HeLo, and in association with Los Angeles Performance Practice and Imperial Art Studios.
