Third Eye Theatre Ensemble Performs in Concert Tonight

Third Eye Theatre Ensemble, a Chicago company which seeks to engage audiences with inspiring performances relevant to today's ever changing world, will be presenting contemporary [& in English] at Forte Framing & Gallery tonight, September 26th at 8pm. contemporary [& in English] is a night of singing featuring excerpts from Third Eye Theatre Ensemble's fall production, Sumeida's Song, by composer Mohammed Fairouz. Cast members and guest artists perform the music of Mohammed Fairouz, in addition to other contemporary composers, including Ricky Ian Gordon, Gwyneth Walker, William Bolcom, Lori Laitman, Jake Heggie, Dominic Argento, Benjamin Britten, and Alan Hovhaness. Ball gown and tuxedo or fleece vest and birkenstocks-in Seattle, it doesn't matter! Come as You Are to the first production of Seattle Opera's 50th Anniversary season. Donizetti's The Daughter of the Regiment tells the story of Marie, a tomboy forced against her will to become a lady. This light-hearted opera features a girl with a whole regiment full of fathers, some of the composer's most romantic music, a formidable grand dame duchess played by a man, and a tenor who hits nine high Cs in the space of one minute. Seattle Opera's production, set in the 1940s, opens on Saturday, October 19, and runs for seven performances through November 2. (more...)

Bob Everhart is the president of the National Traditional Country Music Assn., and has been since 1976. 'We received our 501(c)3 status in 1982 and have been working hard keeping traditional and classic country music alive.' Everhart said. 'Part of that 'genre' of early country music has certainly been Gospel music. It is a stalwart here in the upper Midwest, especially in our rural areas, but it seems to be somewhat diluted in large urban areas.
