NJPAC, Larry Rosen Productions (LRP), and Concord Music Group have created a landmark agreement to provide an exclusive recording contract offer to record and release an album on Concord Records to the winner of the 2014 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, now known as the SASSY awards. It felt like they were trying to shove a ten-pound show into an 8-pound bag. Sometimes a show is just too big even for Village's usually ample stage. Such was the case with "Mary Poppins" over at Village Theatre. Yes, the talent was all there to support it but the technical wizardry felt at its worst clunky and at its best under rehearsed which tended to sap the magic from an otherwise magical show. Marin Theatre Company artistic director Jasson Minadakis, managing director Michael Barker and director of new play development Margot Melcon announced today the winners of MTC's two new American play prizes, a program now in its seventh year. Skeleton Crew by Dominique Morisseau won the 2014 Sky Cooper New American Play Prize and Martyna Majok won the 2014 David Calicchio Emerging American Playwright Prize for her play Ironbound. Queens Theatre (QT) and its resident theatre company, Titan Theatre Company, join forces to present a soaring, WORLD PREMIERE adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic A CHRISTMAS CAROL adapted by Titan Literary Director Emily Trask and Titan Artistic Director Lenny Banovez. A CHRISTMAS CAROL will play a two week limited engagement at Queens Theatre (14 United Nations Avenue South, Flushing Meadows Corona Park).
