BWW Review: The Revelatory Cy Walter Centennial Celebration Is Immensely Entertaining at The Cutting RoomBWW Review: The Revelatory Cy Walter Centennial Celebration Is Immensely Entertaining at The Cutting Room
by Alix Cohen - Sep 29, 2015

Sunday night, Mark Walter topped off a year of Herculean accomplishment in preserving his father's legacy with a concert at the Cutting Room that went off like fireworks. Somewhere, composer /lyricist/arranger/pianist Cy Walter (right in Lloyd Diaz photo), was beaming. In 2015, Mark completed his father's discography filed with The Library of Congress, created a spanking new website, established The Cy Walter Foundation, and put out a two CD package of pre-1950's music with Harbinger Records. The Sunday concert, with expert Musical Direction by the inimitable Tedd Firth, was an opportunity not only to salute a multifaceted talent, but also for many, including Mark (photo below left), to hear songs that haven't been performed for 60 or 70 years. Gimme a chorus line of gorgeous girls with gams up to here, a tap-dancing mob of darkly handsome wise guys, a serious lady of the theater whose teeth marks may be found all around a stage set - place them amid a whimsical and altogether unbelievable plot as thin as the best of the old-time movie musicals, complete with a score of tuneful hits from the jazz age, then throw 'em a laugh-out-loud funny script by Woody Allen - and I am in musical theater nirvana. K.C. Promotes Her Urban Fantasy Series with the First Book THE BOOK OF SHADEK.C. Promotes Her Urban Fantasy Series with the First Book THE BOOK OF SHADE
by BWW News Desk - Feb 4, 2016

Lily Coltrane's to-do list for starting university life is pretty simple: 1. Make friends 2. Meet a cute guy 3. Survive her first year in Modern History In the little English town of Piketon this seems more than achievable, so much so that Lily even joins The Illustrious Minds Literary Society, an extra-curricular club that promises a truly unique social experience. What Lily doesn't bank on are the society's monthly visits to the mysterious Theatre Imaginique at the edge of town, a dark venue that houses the most obscure Cavalcade of carnival performers she has ever laid eyes on. Stranger still is the emergence of the theatre's enigmatic proprietor Lemarick Novel, a stupendous showman with a frosty wit who never seems to smile, and who raises a plethora of questions in Lily's fearful mind. How does he levitate with no sign of wires or mirrors? Why do the lightning bolts that shoot from his hands look so real? And why, of all the people in the theatre, do his pale eyes keep locking on hers? The answers to this and more lie buried in heritage and blood. The Book of Shade is opening, and Lily Coltrane will read it, whether she wants to or not. Other books in the series include The Bloodshade Encounters & The Songspinner (ISBN: 978-0993191503) and The Potioneer (ISBN: 978-1512359169). All three books in the Shadeborn series are available in both print and ebook formats. Book Details: The Book Of Shade Shadeborn, Volume 1 By K.C. It should come as absolutely no surprise to anyone that on Tuesday night, February 16, Music City officially fell in love with Motown.
