What began as a musical about cats after Andrew Lloyd Webber picked up a book of poems in an airport bookshop has become one of the longest running shows in Broadway's history. Winner of seven Tony Awards including Best Musical, CATS features 20 of Andrew Lloyd Webber's timeless melodies, including the hit song "Memory."

If you're often delighted at the large casts Spotlighters and director Fuzz Rourke regularly parades across its carport-sized stage, you'll be delighted again. If you're a fan of the musical direction of Michael Tan and the soaring nuanced vocals he coaxes from these large casts, anticipate another treat. If you admire sparse sets that become multiple settings with a word and a lighting shift, you will find praiseworthy versatility and smooth transitions. BWW Reviews: Loudmouth Collective Closes their Third Season with A BRIGHT NEW BOISE, Another Smart, Intense, Funny, Beautifully Acted and Directed PlayBWW Reviews: Loudmouth Collective Closes their Third Season with A BRIGHT NEW BOISE, Another Smart, Intense, Funny, Beautifully Acted and Directed Play
by Jill Schafer - Jan 19, 2015

Loudmouth Collective is closing their third season with another show that is firmly in their wheelhouse of smart, deep, intense, often funny, always thought-provoking, small cast, beautifully directed and acted plays. I've been with them since the beginning, when the surprisingly sweet and touching GRUESOME PLAYGROUND INJURIES landed on my favorites list that year. Since then they've done a couple of stellar one-man shows, an absurd comedy, and a Fringe show about talking Cats. A BRIGHT NEW BOISE fits in well with that group of plays and helps to further define Loudmouth's point of view, one that's definitely worth paying attention to. It's a beautifully complex play, at times funny, at times utterly devastating, and completely engrossing. I know it's only mid-January, but this is by far the best thing I've seen so far this year. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Nicole Scherzinger just made her West End stage debut as 'Grizabella' in Andrew Lloyd Webber's record-breaking musical Cats, and according to a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Webber has plans to bring the show (and his new star) to Broadway. He told DM: 'Cats will now definitely go to Broadway again. It's very exciting.' On Scherzinger's future involvement, he added: 'I would very greatly hope she would do it. To do something like that in America would open up a billion doors for her.'He continued: 'She is what you might call an American theatre babe. I do believe she is the most exciting musical theatre artist I have found - well, that I have worked with - in very, very many years. I really do.' In the video below, Scherzinger performs and acoustic cover of Sam Smith's 'I'm Not the Only One.' Check it out below! (more...)
