Based on the novel by Prosper Mérimée

Audiences will be seduced by the physicality and energy of Amedeo Amodio's dramatic Carmen. Accompanied by Georges Bizet's famous score, obsession, intensity and drama are found in this modern-day reimagining of one of the world's most famous operas. The honorable soldier Don Jose. The proud toreador Escamillo. And Carmen, the seductive and passionate woman they both love. The stage is set for a tangled tale of passion and betrayal told through classical ballet with a contemporary edge.

Atlantic City Ballet to Launch Season with A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, 7/25Atlantic City Ballet to Launch Season with A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, 7/25
by BWW News Desk - Jul 9, 2015

The Atlantic City Ballet kicks off their 33rd season with their opening of A Midsummer Night's Dream. This classic ballet is a story the whole family will enjoy. During this enchanted evening, spells are cast, lovers are fooled and revelry flourishes as worlds collide in Shakespeare's imaginative comedy. On a night when anything can happen, young lovers awaken their mischievous curiosity of fairies, which in turn use their charm to lead the couple into a playful midnight frolic through the forest. In the midst of it all, an acting troupe gets caught up in the chaos when a magic spell turns their leading man into a donkey. One of Shakespeare's best-known comedies, A Midsummer Night's Dream blurs the line between magic and reality, leading to a night so fantastical you have to dream it to believe it. The Atlantic City Ballet will present Midsummer for two nights on July 25th & 26th. For the second season, performances will be at the newly renovated Claridge Hotel in the heart of Atlantic City. Also in keeping with tradition, the ballet will continue its Ballet on the Boardwalk Series with free performances at Kennedy Plaza every Wednesday starting July 29th. These performances sponsored in part by the CRDA and Atlantic City Alliance give audiences a chance to see works not normally seen during the season. (more...)

'CONSTELLATION – UMA VIAGEM MUSICAL PELOS ANOS 50' is a nice and nostalgic journey on a Rio de Janeiro that no longer exists, directed by Jarbas Homem de Mello from text and idealization by Claudio Magnavita. The musical takes place in the Federal Capital in the 1950s, and has as its protagonist a young dreamer Regina Lucia (Julie), which through a contest sponsored by the Radio Nacional, disputes the privilege to be part of the inaugural flight of the then very modern Constellation aircraft. While craves the award, she has to live with her reality, living in a studio apartment  in Copacabana with her mother (Elizabeth Lovie) and aunt (Andrea Veiga) and to decide between living in a universe of dream and glamor or frustration. At a time when we're often inundated with yet another TOSCA, BOHEME or Carmen at major opera houses, the Caramoor Festival in Katonah, NY--a couple of hours north of New York City in summer traffic--manages to bring some relief, thanks to the efforts of its Music Director Will Crutchfield. On July 11, Gaetano Donizetti's LA FAVORITE showed us that the composer of LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR, L'ELISIR D'AMORE and the Tudor Queens Trilogy, among so many others, had more than a few tricks up his sleeve. Orange County, Calif.—July 10, 2015—It is a night of spicy, riveting music and dance featuring salsa, Cuban rhythms and the sounds of Spain, when Pacific Symphony, led by Music Director Carl St.Clair, delivers the third concert of Summer Festival 2015.
