Based on the novel by Prosper Mérimée

Audiences will be seduced by the physicality and energy of Amedeo Amodio's dramatic Carmen. Accompanied by Georges Bizet's famous score, obsession, intensity and drama are found in this modern-day reimagining of one of the world's most famous operas. The honorable soldier Don Jose. The proud toreador Escamillo. And Carmen, the seductive and passionate woman they both love. The stage is set for a tangled tale of passion and betrayal told through classical ballet with a contemporary edge.

BWW Reviews: CORINNA SOWERS-ADLER Holds to Her Own 'High Standards' with a Show By the Same Name at Metropolitan RoomBWW Reviews: CORINNA SOWERS-ADLER Holds to Her Own 'High Standards' with a Show By the Same Name at Metropolitan Room
by Alix Cohen - Jun 22, 2015

As she wends her way towards the stage at the opening of her new show at the Metropolitan Room (performances were on June 15 and 20), Corinna Sowers Adler sings the Jerome Kern/Oscar Hammerstein II classic “All The Things You Are” with warm, legato phrases that surround the club like a hug. Sowers Adler achieves this not only with her singing, but also the friendly and personal nature of her bridging dialogue. In High Standards, she manages to make us feel privy to an authentic self without a lot of in-jokes intended for attending friends and family. The standards to which this show's title refers are not only those evergreen numbers collected in The Great American Song Book, but also yardsticks by which we measure quality and value in life. BWW Reviews: MSMT Intern Company Dreams of FAMEBWW Reviews: MSMT Intern Company Dreams of FAME
by Carla Maria Verdino-Süllwold - Jun 16, 2015

'Fame/I'm gonna live forever/I'm gonna learn how to fly. . . .'So sings the company of young aspiring actors in the Steve Margoshes/Jacques Levy 1984 musical, FAME, and, indeed, one finds the description appropriate for the talented cast which Maine State Music Theatre has assembled for its annual intern production, presented at Brunswick's Pickard Theatre on Monday, June 15th. Each year some two dozen young artists, who also perform in the main stage shows and work behind the scenes come together to present their own show, and in this year's FAME they outdo themselves! The 1988 musical based on the earlier movie is an excellent choice for the company, offering age-appropriate characters with which the actors can identify and challenging them to turn out colorful, individual performances while creating an esprit de corps. Moreover, it is a theatre story, filled with laughter, pathos, and heart. (more...)

Publisher Simon & Fig Releases New Chick-Lit Novel 'Cocktails at Le Carmen' by Author Isabelle AndoverPublisher Simon & Fig Releases New Chick-Lit Novel 'Cocktails at Le Carmen' by Author Isabelle Andover
by BWW News Desk - Jun 14, 2015

Author Isabelle Andover and her publisher, Simon & Fig are pleased to announce the release of their new chick-lit novel, "Cocktails at Le Carmen." When job cuts at Chloe Saddler's London communications firm result in an unexpected transfer to Paris, she finds herself leaving behind her friends, family, and boyfriend Scott to start a new life in the City of Light. Getting to grips with La Vie Parisienne and keeping a long-distance relationship afloat is not made any easier by the culture shock. Committing the odd French faux pas and inadvertently indulging in a few too many flirtations with her very sexy (and very taken) boss, Jean-Luc, is just the start of it. Factor in her bridezilla of a sister's wedding (the hottest event of the year in the Saddler family's social calendar), an unexpected session of hot, naked yoga, a slightly psychotic stalker, and one incredible kiss at an infamous Montmartre nightspot, and Chloe can say au revoir to her old, safe London life and bonjour to the romance, splendour, and glamour of Paris. A delightful debut that harks back to the early days of Chick Lit when heroines were flawed, funny, and forever battling for love and happiness. With quirky characters and classic comedic charm, Cocktails at Le Carmen is pure fun from page one. Cocktails at Le Carmen is available in both print and ebook formats. Book Details: Cocktails at Le Carmen By Isabelle Andover Publisher: Simon & Fig Pubished: June 19, 2015 ISBN: 978-0990984849 (paperback) ISBN: 978-0990984832 (ebook) ASIN: B00XZS6EAO Pages: 346 Genre: Chick Lit About The Author: Originally from England, Isabelle Andover moved to France after graduating from Durham University with a degree in Modern Languages. She lives in Paris with her tabby cat Oscar, who occasionally blogs about apartment-style living in the City of Light, and who also inspired a prize-winning short story when he was a kitten. Following several years as a media analyst, Isabelle now works at a Paris-based media company specialized in the international beauty market. In addition to fully embracing the culture of her adopted country by way of consuming plenty of French wine and cheese, Isabelle can also be found indulging in the typically British pursuits of shopping at Marks and Spencer on the Champs Elysées and drinking copious cups of Earl Grey.
