The Neil Simon Plays - Two of Broadway's best-loved masterpieces from America's most treasured playwright, BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS and BROADWAY BOUND will be playing in repertory at the Nederlander Theatre. Please note that a separate ticket must be purchased for EACH production.



In BROADWAY BOUND, it's the late 1940s and Eugene and Stanley have started their careers as professional comedy writers. But when the brothers use their home life in Brighton Beach as inspiration for a radio comedy skit, the Jerome family may never be the same.



BROADWAY BOUND stars Laurie Metcalf (Kate Jerome) and Dennis Boutsikaris (Jack Jerome) with Santino Fontana (Stanley Jerome), Jessica Hecht (Blanche), Josh Grisetti (Eugene Jerome) and Allan Miller (Ben).

The award-winning VITAL THEATRE COMPANY is pleased to announce the extention of FASHION ACADEMY, THE MUSICAL, a new musical with book by Sheryl Berk and Sabrina Chap and music and lyrics by Sabrina Chap, based on the book Fashion Academy by Sheryl Berk and Carrie Berk, authors of the popular chapter book, Peace, Love, and Cupcakes: The Cupcake Club. The production is directed by Sam Viverito and will continue performances at the Theater at Blessed Sacrament, 152 West 71st Street, just east of Broadway, on Saturdays and Sundays at 3:30 pm, through February 28th. Directed and choreographed by Tony Award nominee Marcia Milgrom Dodge (RAGTIME), this ambitious new original musical---advertised with declared aspirations for an eventual engagement on Broadway---fashions an early 20th Century era, multi-character narrative about the construction of one of the world's most iconic skyscrapers: the Empire State Building in New York City. Paper Mill Playhouse's recent production of THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, based on the novel by Victor Hugo and the Disney animated film, may not be Broadway-bound, but the company did get a chance to immortalize its songs on a cast recording. The American Premiere Studio Recording of THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, the only stage collaboration from two masters of the American musical Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz, is available today, January 22, 2016. As BroadwayWorld reported this morning, Bette Midler will indeed return to Broadway in one of the most cherished shows in musical theater history when she takes on the role of Dolly Gallagher Levi in Michael Stewart's (book) and Jerry Herman's (music and lyrics) masterpiece, Hello, Dolly!. Directed by four-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Zaks, Hello, Dolly! will begin performances on Broadway on March 13, 2017, with an official opening night of April 20, 2017. Rehearsals begin one year from today. This new production of Hello, Dolly!, the first new production of this classic musical to appear on Broadway since it opened more than fifty years ago, will have at its helm Jerry Zaks as its director, and will feature choreography by Tony Award-winner Warren Carlyle. The new Dolly! will pay tribute to the original work of legendary director/choreographer Gower Champion, which has been hailed both then and now as one of the greatest stagings in musical theater history. Lyric Opera of Chicago announced today that Tony Award-nominated Kate Baldwin and Paolo Montalban will star as Anna Leonowens and the King of Siam in Lyric's grand-scale production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's The King and I, April 29-May 22, 2016 (press opening April 30). A graduate of Northwestern University, Baldwin last appeared onstage in Chicago in the Broadway-bound musical Big Fish. Montalban has been seen in Broadway productions of Pacific Overtures and The King and I, and is best known for starring as the Prince in ABC's telefilm of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, alongside Brandy and Whitney Houston.   Playwrights Horizons begins accepting entries today, Wednesday, February 3, for the LIVEforFIVE online lottery for $5 tickets to their New York premiere of FAMILIAR, a new play by Obie Award winner Danai Gurira (the Broadway-bound Eclipsed, In the Continuum, The Convert, Michonne on AMC's "The Walking Dead").  Directed by Rebecca Taichman (Stage Kiss, Milk Like Sugar at PH; The Oldest Boy; Marie Antoinette; Luck of the Irish; Orlando), the play is the fourth production of the theater company's 2015/2016 Season.    (more...)

The Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present Broadway and television actress Linda Lavin for two very special concerts on the historic stage this past week. The show, wryly entitled 'My First Farewell Concert,' is Lavin's personal story told in songs she loves. She performed favorites from the Great American/Brazilian/Yiddish Songbooks, with Billy Stritch at the piano, Steve Bakunas on drums, Ron Affif on guitar, Tom Hubbard on bass, and special guest Aaron Weinstein on violin. Songs included were 'You've Got Possibilities,' 'No More Blues,' and a medley of songs recorded by the late, great Bobby Short. Scroll down for photos from the concert! (more...)
