MyoKardia Announces Launch of SHaRe Patient Registry for Genetic Heart Disease in Collaboration with World-Leading Cardiovascular Patient Care Centers
by BWW News Desk - May 14, 2014

SHaRe is a first-of-its-kind effort that promises to yield a deeper understanding of genetic heart disease and pave the way for more targeted and effective approaches to treating the disease. Two types of genetic heart disease, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), together affect nearly 800,000 people in the United States, but treatment to halt the progression of disease has remained elusive due to the complex and varied nature of these conditions. Mutations in the molecular motor of the heart, the sarcomere, are an important cause of these inherited heart muscle disorders. Patients with HCM and DCM do not all share the same disease-causing genetic mutations, or genotype. There are many different clinical characteristics, or phenotypes, in part driven by their individual genetic makeup. SHaRe will play an important role in helping researchers and clinicians better understand how these genotypes and phenotypes interact, which will ultimately lead to the development of targeted therapies based on the specific disease-causing genetic mutations in individual patients. 'Before You Tie the Sacred Knot' by Dr. Angela B. Chester is Released
by BWW News Desk - Aug 7, 2014

'Before You Tie the Sacred Knot' by Dr. Angela B. Chester provides readers with information and tools on how to effectively build a marriage that will last by discussing topics and concerns that cause the most apprehension towards marriage, as well as encourage continued compatibility. According to studies done by Brigham Young University 'the average person who participated in a premarital prevention program was significantly better off afterwards than 79% of people who did not participate. Stated differently, the average participant in a premarital program tends to experience about a 30% increase in measures of outcome success.' But how does at home therapy work, and how can it be a smart and beneficial choice? It starts the conversation from a different neutral perspective. The questions aren't stated as an accusation so no one is forced to be defensive. 'This guide works to show readers how to ask the important questions about topics concerning relationships, finances, or parenting, while also giving them tools with chapters on conflict resolution and red flags,' says Dr. Angela Chester. 'Some young couples more hesitant to get married because of recent divorce rates. When you empower the couples by discussing the uncomfortable subjects such as religion, children, money, and in-laws, you take the potential for a break down in the marriage away. By removing the veil they allow themselves to come to an agreed upon solution instead.' When asked about the Christian perspective of the book, Dr. Chester says, 'Before You Tie the Sacred Knot', includes biblical based exercises for both the bride and groom. Self-reflection is important for the individual and the Christian respectively. One should never stop growing. One constant every marriage should have is continued betterment of self, your relationship and your walk of a Christian.' 'Before You Tie the Sacred Knot' is available for sale online at Amazon.com and other channels, as well as it's secular or non-Christian counterpart 'Before You Tie The Knot: A Counseling Workbook for the D.I.Y. Couple.' Both books are featured on book tour from August 2014 to January 2015. Locations include Texas, Virginia and Vancouver. About the Author Dr. Angela Butts Chester, is a Pastoral Counselor, Author, and Speaker. As Founder of New Life Pastoral Counseling in Long Beach, CA., she provides counseling for Life Stages (premarital counseling, divorce, marriage issues and enrichment, etc.) and Life Transitions (depression, loss and grief, etc.) for adults.
