THE 39 STEPS Opens Cortland Rep's 46th Summer Season

Cortland Repertory Theatre kicks off their 46th annual summer season at the Little York Pavilion in Preble with the brilliantly hysterical spy comedy The 39 Steps. This award winning play was adapted by Patrick Barlow from the novel by John Buchan and the movie by Alfred Hitchcock.  Performances will run from June 7th - 17th with evening show times at 7:30 PM.  Matinees are available on June 9th, 11th and 14th at 2:00 PM.  Tickets may be purchased by calling 800-427-6160 or at the CRT Box Office at 24 Port Watson Street in Cortland. Bergen County Players (BCP) concludes its 84th season with a staged reading of Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays. Conceived by BCP alum Brian Shnipper and directed by Mark Rinis, this anthology of monologues and short plays began as a series of benefit events in Los Angeles, taking on a life of their own as an inspiring theatrical evening. The show will only run two nights, June 10 and 11 at the Little Firehouse Theatre, 298 Kinderkamack Road in Oradell. When Nick and Nigel Bottom decided they wanted to write a new hit play, they knew they had a lot of work ahead of them. With William Shakespeare as their competition, they knew they had to be new and innovative. The hilarious show SOMETHING ROTTEN is an original musical comedy with a book by John O'Farrell and Karey Kirkpatrick and music and lyrics by Karey and Wayne Kirkpatrick. It follows their adventures in writing the first musical and the cast of characters that add to the humor of the show. Scott Cote plays Brother Jeremiah and can be called the 'villain' of the show. Hall Jr. and William A. Miles and directed by Artistic Director Robert Tobin. This winter, the season continues with a FESTIVAL OF ONE ACTS BY TENNESSEE WILLIAMS, celebrating one of the 20th century's greatest writers. This 1960's French farce adapted for the English-speaking stage features self-styled Parisian lothario Bernard (Ryan Boyd), who has Italian (Toody Lawrence), German (Vanessa Voetsch), and American (Leah Finity) fiancees, each beautiful airline hostesses with frequent 'layovers.' He keeps 'one up, one down and one pending' at all times, relying on the published airline schedules to keep things straight, much to the dismay of his beleagured maid, Berthe (Gwen Conklin), who does her best to keep up with all the arrivals and departures.  (more...)
