BWW Review: THE WEDDING SINGER at Theatre Three
by Kyle Christopher West - Sep 28, 2016

No matter what year you were born, you've probably teased your hair and belted out every word to 'Livin' On A Prayer,' or 'Don't Stop Believing' at some point in your life. The 1980's are celebrated as a never-ending pop music party that everyone seems to remember fondly - including the younger generation who wasn't even around for it! When Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore fell in love onscreen in the 80's-themed 1998 film THE WEDDING SINGER, a comedic classic was born, eventually becoming inspiration to a Broadway musical of the same name in 2006. Although the stage version never quite captured audiences or critics like the movie did (perhaps they were 'Too Shy' to pay $111.25 for the blast-from-the-past?), the show was overall well received by audiences. Now, Dallas' theatre-in-the-round, Theatre Three, brings the 'Me decade' to the stage in THE WEDDING SINGER and providing a lot of upbeat, fluffy fun. (more...)

BWW Review: Chris Dwan Channels His Inner Child in WASTE OF SPACE at Feinstein's/54 Below
by Troy Frisby - Sep 27, 2016

That line came from an original track, 'All I Know,' co-written with Ross Baum. Making his New York City solo concert debut at Feinstein's/54 Below on September 6, Dwan did create his own sort of the universe, but the connections remained a bit unclear. (more...)

BWW Review: Lake Worth Playhouse's URINETOWN a Rush of Wit
by Trevor Durham - Oct 22, 2016

Political humor and an abundance of urine aren't an obvious match for downtown Lake Worth's theatre scene. Artistic director Jodie Dixon-Mears and director Clayton Phillips decided, after many years of waiting, that the time was ripe to throw Mark Hollman and Greg Kotis' satirical masterpiece at the Palm Beaches. Boasting a cast of strong vocalists, and the comedic timing this show requires, Urinetown at the Lake Worth Playhouse is a strong stream of wit. (more...)

BWW Blog: Miranda Jackel - Broadway and Fitness Join Forces at Flywheel!
by Guest Blogger: Miranda Jackel - Oct 21, 2016

So, I like to eat. Like, a lot. Ok, actually, I'm not going to beat around the bush: I'M LITERALLY OBSESSED WITH FOOD...which means that I have to work out. (I swear this relates to theater, don't give up on me right away.) For years, I despised exercise, and I was absolutely horrible at it (not that I'm so great now, but I'm a lot better). After years of feeling a shiver down my spine at the thought of working out, I've finally started to enjoy it thanks to Flywheel Sports, an amazing chain of indoor cycling studios. Flywheel is the perfect place for theater geeks looking to break a sweat because almost all of the teachers there HAVE BACKGROUNDS IN THEATER!!! SQUAAADDD!!! (more...)
