New Book Promises 28 Days to Health and Happiness
by BWW News Desk - Sep 9, 2015 has announced its long-awaited e-book, 'The Fast Way to Health and Happiness - 28 Days to a Better You and a Better Life'. After 20 years of researching the physiology and psychology of what it takes for people to be healthy and happy, Rob Fast has created a strategy to help change negative habits and embrace positive habits that lead to success in all that we do. 'The main reason diets and fitness programs fail... the primary reason we feel unfulfilled and unhappy, is that we must first adopt a new way of thinking before we attempt to adopt a new way of living,' according to Fast. Numerous studies have shown that it takes 28 days to alter Bad Habits or to generate positive new habits. 'The Fast Way' is a cumulative process that encourages readers to read just one short, simple chapter per day. Each chapter consists of a single task. The following day, that task is coupled with a new task. Then the next day, we continue with previous tasks as we take on one additional task, and so on. 'It is as much about the process as it is about the content,' adds Fast. 'It's not just an easy read... it's a must read!' says CBS Radio. And recently said, 'The simplest, smartest way to begin or enhance a fit lifestyle.' You can learn more about Rob Fast and 'The Fast Way' by visiting About Rob Fast Rob Fast is a fitness trainer, restaurateur, juicing enthusiast, author, speaker and personal coach. He discovered that fitness is a lifestyle... a mindset, not simply a membership to a gym. Good health is about learning to make different choices, not about denying ourselves the things we enjoy. And happiness is about integrating these into our daily lives, our families and our social circles. Visit for more information. (more...)

BWW Recap: Phil is a 'Dead Man Walking' on THE LAST MAN ON EARTH
by Gunnar Larson - Oct 12, 2015

'When somebody dies, all that bad stuff melts away and you're left with the good stuff.' Gail says this line at Gordon's funeral, noting how in the wake of his death, she only remembers the good in him, forgetting his Bad Habits. This line is especially poignant given the post-apocalyptic genre THE LAST MAN ON EARTH resides in. With most of society dead to a plague, is all that's left good? (more...)

BWW Interview: Johannah Easley and Aimee K. Bryant Cast a 'Spell' at Arena Stage in AKEELAH AND THE BEE!
by Ellen Burns - Nov 16, 2015

'People are complex,' muses Aimee K. Grant, who plays Akeelah's mom, Gail, in AKEELAH AND THE BEE, the new musical at Arena Stage when I sat down with her and her on-stage daughter, 17-year old Johannah Easley (Akeelah) to talk about their experiences with the show. Increasing understanding within and among people is the power of theater, we agree, and Akeelah definitely offers up a story of complex people, young and old. Based on the wildly popular 2006 film of the same name, it's the story of a determined young girl from a difficult situation, competing in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Akeelah's life is filled with challenges, as are many people's, and that's where this story resonates. Although a tale of triumph over adversity may not seem a new one, each person's story is different, and Akeelah's has layers that will be relatable to many in the audience. (more...)

BWW Review: Stellar AGNES OF GOD at Coyote StageWorks
by Don Grigware - May 3, 2016

Playwright John Pielmeier's Agnes of God, written in 1982, was based upon a real life police case of a novice nun in Boston, accused of murdering her baby. Coyote StageWorks just closed a stellar 10 performance only run of the play at the Annenberg Theatre in Palm Springs. Under the direction of veteran actor/director Don Amendolia, Agnes of God proved itself as topical today as it did in the 80s, and Broadway is ripe for a revival. (more...)

BWW Blog: Paisley Haddad - East Meets West-4 Directors Talk About Directing Kids and Teens
by Guest Blogger: Paisley Haddad - Jul 27, 2016

Directing Kids and Teens sounds like a very difficult job, but for these 4 directors, the task is very easy. Cheryl Baxter-Ratliff  (Los Angeles), Joel & Christine Seger (Massachusetts), and Kelley Manson (Massachusetts) have had their fair share of young adult productions to be proud of.  No matter what coast they are from, they all can agree that kids and teens are "sponges" that can soak up information and that they do not have any Bad Habits they need to break on stage. They also talk about their beginnings in directing kids and teens, memorable moments thus far in their directing, and more. Read my Q&A below to see what they said.  (more...)
