You will have such an opportunity if you catch the hilarious new musical My Life Is A Musical by Adam Overett running through August 31st at Sag Harbor's Bay Street Theatre. Every once in a while, I hear comments about theater that just make me cringe. One that I've heard on more than one occasion (usually from a pre-teen who doesn't know any better) is, 'OMG! The score from Wicked has got to be the toughest thing that Schwartz guy ever wrote. How did Idina do 'Defying Gravity' 8 shows a week?' Of course, the correct response is, 'Idina's a professional, and Wicked is a synch when compared to Godspell, the first musical written by 'that Schwartz guy.' (more...)

The producers of THE BOOK OF MORMON, and The Nederlander Organization, announced today that due to popular demand, four additional weeks of performances - now through November 30, have been added to the Toronto engagement. Tickets for the new block of performances will be available to Front of The Line by American Express cardmembers in advance on Monday August 25 through Tuesday September 2 at 10PM. Happy Birthday, Andrew Rannells! Rannells played Bob Gaudio in the First National Tour of Jersey Boys. In January 2009, he reprised the role of Gaudio in the musical's Broadway production. Rannells originated the role of Elder Price in The Book of Mormon, a musical written by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and Avenue Q composer Robert Lopez. For his performance, he was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical. His last performance was June 10, 2012. He will soon play Bryan Buckley in Ryan Murphy's new television series The New Normal on NBC. (more...)

Contra Costa Civic Theatre to Open 55th Season with THE ADDAMS FAMILY, 9/19-10/19

Theo Ubique's MUSICAL TRIBUTE TO THE ANDREWS SISTERS Extends Through 10/6

Theo Ubique's wildly popular summer cabaret, which sold out all of its first extension through the end of August, will be performed an additional 11 times between September 6 and October 6. After two weekends of Friday and Saturday 8 PM evening shows September 6, 7, 13 and 14, the sisters will pause for a week while Theo Ubique readies and opens its fall show, A Kurt Weill Cabaret, which will begin previews September 22, 2014. The Andrews Sisters will return on Wednesday, September 24 and play a schedule of varying performance dates through Saturday, October 6, including matinees on Saturday, October 4 and Sunday, October 5. Recently, filmmaker and master puppeteer, Roberto Ferreira, co-founder of the Puppet School of San Francisco, L.A., and New York, (www.PuppetSchool.com) came to TheatreWorks New Milford to prep the cast on the finer points of puppeteering for the premiere of the Theatre's upcoming hit musical comedy, Avenue Q. With Book by Jeff Whitty and Music & Lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, this puppet-filled production won the coveted 2004 Tony 'Triple Crown' for Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Book.
