Written in verse by Gisela Cardenas and delivered as spoken poetry by a cast of three, I2Decode explores the intertwining of live music, video mapping and words. A man named Gabriel prepares to meet his adult son after being estranged for twenty years. He wonders why his son is coming and what he wants: to know who he is? Where he comes from? Where he belongs? Gabriel knows nothing; his own past escapes him. As the story of Gabriel's family unfolds onstage, his ancestors come alive around him to fill in the gaps. With its web of intricately overlapping connections, When the Rain Stops Falling follows four generations of a family from 1959 to 2039, and from London to Australia. As this family and their world evolve over time, one question remains: in the face of climate change, can we break our habits and change the way we live? (more...)

The Onassis Cultural Center New York launches its fall season with Antigone Now, the second annual Onassis Festival of Arts and Ideas, October 13-16, featuring a new work created by acclaimed artist Carrie Mae Weems presented one time only on opening ?night. Weems participates in Past Tense, the performance-based piece to be presented on October 13, at 8 pm, at the cultural center, 645 Fifth Avenue, NY. Over the course of this year's Speak Up, our young artists will build their storytelling skills and gain a larger sense of community as they voice experiences and create their own original play under the guidance of Chance Theater Artists. Led by Education Director Karen O'Hanlon and Producing Associate for our TYA series Darryl Hovis, Speak Up will begin on June 20 and culminate in four public performances on July 23 and 24 at 11:00 am and 6:00pm. This fall, Marin Theatre Company unleashes their 2016-17 Family Series season with tales of growing up, friendship, and self discovery. Kicking off its second Family Series Season of Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) plays is writer and performer Jim Napolitano with his original shadow puppet story, Father Goose's Tales. Next up are three fully self-produced TYA productions: an adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's engrossing The Jungle Book by Greg Banks, Hans Christian Andersen's classic tale, The Snow Queen, adapted by Mike Kenny, and Brendan Murray's endearing rendition of Hare and Tortoise.
