When Mary's uncle, the Duke of Guise (guest star Gil Darnell), arrives in France with devastating news about her mother, Mary (Adelaide Kane) and Francis (Toby Regbo) realize they are torn between putting their own countries first or saving their marriage. With the English throne in jeopardy, King Henry (Alan Van Sprang) hatches an elaborate plan that will end in disaster. Meanwhile, Bash (Torrance Coombs) and Kenna (Caitlin Stasey) solidify their marriage and begin to trust one another. Megan Follows, Anna Popplewell and Celina Sinden also star. Film Society of Lincoln Center Announces Details for 'Fassbinder: Romantic Anarchist'

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today the details for Fassbinder: Romantic Anarchist (Part 1), May 16 – June 1. Divided into two parts, the retrospective will be the most extensive presentation of Fassbinder's films in New York since 1997, with Part 1 including almost all of his work leading up to 1974 and Part 2 (screening in November) to pick up from 1974 through 1982. The ambitious two-part series will include all of his theatrical features, much of his television work, films he starred in, films that influenced him, and films that were influenced by his work. The Footlight Players, South Carolina's longest-producing theatre company, is thrilled to present Twentieth Century, the story of a Broadway director and his quest to woo his former lover and star back to the Broadway Stage. Twentieth Century, by Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur, is newly adapted by Ken Ludwig (Lend Me A Tenor). Michael Locklair directs this madcap farce about egomaniacal Broadway director, Oscar Jaffe, who has a twenty hour train ride from Chicago to New York to convince, now Hollywood star, Lily Garland to return to Broadway in his upcoming show. Stephen Schwartz to be Honored at American Opera Projects's 25th Anniversary Gala, 5/12

On Monday, May 12, 2014, AOP (American Opera Projects) hosts its 25th Anniversary Gala honoring Stephen Schwartz, composer and lyricist of Wicked, Pippin, and Godspell as well as the AOP-developed opera Seance on a Wet Afternoon that premiered at Opera Santa Barbara and ran at New York City Opera for ten performances in their 2010-11 Season. The evening, titled 'Opera Sings Broadway Sings Opera,' brings together stars of Opera and Broadway at The Players (16 Gramercy Park South), an historic theatre club in Manhattan. Doors open at 7:30pm with performances scheduled to begin at 8:00pm. Tickets begin at $250 and are available at AOP's website www.operaprojects.org. (more...)

Shapiro, the new Broadway production of Of Mice and Men officially opened last night, April 16, 2014 at the Longacre Theatre, to mostly positive reviews from the critics. James Franco, who stars as George in the play, wasn't satisfied with a review by New York Times theatre critic Ben Brantley. Franco recently wrote a comment about the review from his official Instagram account (which has since been removed), which was captured by Vanity Fair's Richard Lawson. Franco writes: Sadly Ben Brantley and the NYT have embarrassed themselves. Brantley is such a little bitch he should be working for Gawker.com instead of the paper of record. The theatre community hate him, and for good reason, he's an idiot. (more...)
