DarkFuse Presents SAYING UNCLE by Greg F. Gifune Kindle Countdown Deal
by BWW News Desk - Jul 22, 2014

The novel that many believe is Greg F. Gifune's best work of fiction is now on sales for your Kindle for only 99 cents through July 27, 2014. Saying Uncle is a lean but thought-provoking novel about crimes of the past and the scars they leave behind. A study of violence and spirituality, of a family torn apart by a senseless act of brutality and the equally brutal aftermath that haunts them still, Saying Uncle is at once elegant, horrific, emotionally shattering, and sadly beautiful. A remarkable novel from the author of Dominion, The Bleeding Season and Rogue. (more...)

BWW Reviews: Ken Ludwig's LEADING LADIES Are Ravishing at GCT
by Don Grigware - Jul 21, 2014

Playwright Ken Ludwig (Lend Me a Tenor, Moon Over Buffalo as well as Leading Ladies) is one of a dying breed of American farceurs. How many presently exist? In the UK, yes, there are many. Farce is their specialty, but not in the US. So, that given, Leading Ladies is a uniquely special ode to the theatre, to Shakespeare and to that band of traveling actors who make little money but devote their lives to entertain us, and to comedy put forth at a breakneck pace. Thanks to Ken Ludwig and his Leading Ladies our lives are that much brighter. Now in an especially exhilarating production at GCT James Castle Stevens skillfully guides a fiercely talented cast through August 16. (more...)

BWW Reviews: The Guthrie Theater's Gorgeous New Production of MY FAIR LADY is a Musical with Style and Substance
by Jill Schafer - Jul 10, 2014

There's a reason My Fair Lady is one of the most beloved musicals of all time. Not only does it feature a bunch of wonderful songs by Lerner and Loewe that have become classics, but it's based on the George Bernard Shaw play Pygmalion that deals with issues of class, gender, societal expectations, and the intersection of wealth and power. It's a musical that has style and substance. The Guthrie's gorgeous new production does well by this classic. The show is perfectly cast, the familiar music sounds great, the choreography is fantastic, and the sets and costumes are luscious. This hugely entertaining show is definitely a must-see summer blockbuster musical. (more...)
