Fresh off Broadway, by way of Fort Worth, Texas, he came home to Houston last spring - February to be exact - and immediately got to work on the anachronistic beauty that is MARIE ANTOINETTE. BWW Reviews: Whip-Smart Philosophical Comedy DISCORD Presents a Battle of Wits for the AgesBWW Reviews: Whip-Smart Philosophical Comedy DISCORD Presents a Battle of Wits for the Ages
by Shari Barrett - Oct 17, 2014

DISCORD brings three great thinkers together in a room which appears to be a holding cell for heaven. They enter according to the time period in which they lived: first Thomas Jefferson, then Charles Dickens, and finally Count Leo Tolstoy. When each enters through the only door, it closes and locks, blocking the only way out. Thus begins their examination of why they have been brought together, what they could possibly have in common, and how can they possibly escape? It's a blistering battle of wits for the ages. BWW Reviews: The Mikhailovsky Ballet's THE FLAMES OF PARISBWW Reviews: The Mikhailovsky Ballet's THE FLAMES OF PARIS
by Barnett Serchuk - Nov 24, 2014

Remember high school history. Some of us loved it; others hated it. Best of all, there were the teachers. They tried to educate us about British royalty, Swedish neutrality, or crumbling Hapsburg empires. How I wish they had known The Flames of Paris back then. Just think, in less than two hours we'd have known all about the French Revolution. While there were plenty of Civil War movies-just in case we needed some brain reinforcement for our exams-the French Revolution was a very deep ocean away. I know we had all seen Norma Shearer in Marie Antoinette or some version of A Tale of Two Cities. But that's as far as most of us got to a real understanding of French history. Besides, they spoke a strange language, and in those days you didn't want to be caught being bi-lingual. (more...)
