China Lion announced today that it has acquired and will release the film My Lucky Star on September 20th in North America day-and-date with Mainland China. The film stars Ziyi Zhang and Wang Leehom and follows the continuing comedic adventures of Sophie (Zhang) as she finds herself caught up in an international diamond heist that draws her towards a sexy spy (Wang) trying to save the world. The film serves as a standalone production with a contained storyline rather than a sequel to the film Sophie's Revenge. (more...)

Inglis Hall Productions proudly announces the Midwest premiere of The Last Hand based on true events in the violent streets of Chicago's West Side and written by Richard James Zieman, at the Athenaeum Theatre, 2936 N. Southport Ave., September 13 - October 20. Directed by Samuel G. Roberson, The Last Hand runs Thursdays - Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Preview performances are September 13, 14 and 15 at 7:30 p.m. Opening night is Thursday, September 19 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased for $25 per adult or $15 per student/senior by calling the Athenaeum Theatre box office at 773.935.6860 or visiting their website www.AthenaeumTheatre.org. From September 5-15, 2013, Houston Ballet launches its 44th season with a mixed repertory program of premieres by emerging and established choreographers. Famed choreographer James Kudelka will create a new work for the company. British master and Houston Ballet's associate choreographer Christopher Bruce's Intimate Pages will have its Houston Ballet premiere. Porchlight Music Theatre is proud to present the Chicago premiere of Double Trouble, book, music and lyrics by brothers Bob Waltonand Jim Walton, direction and choreography by Matthew Crowle, music direction by Linda Madonia and starring brothers Adrian Aguilar andAlexander Aguilar, August 31 - October 6, at Stage 773, 1225 West Belmont Ave. Previews are Saturday, Aug. 31 at 8 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 1 at 2 and 6 p.m. and Monday, Sept. 2 at 7:30 p.m. Opening/Press Night is Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 7:30 p.m. The regular schedule is Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 4 and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. There is a special weekday group matinee: Thursday, Oct. 3 at 1 p.m. Tickets are $30 for previews and $39 for all other performances. Producing Artistic Director Gwendolyn Whiteside and American Blues Theater, Chicago's second oldest Equity ensemble, are proud to announce the first production in American Blues Theater's 'Legends and Legacies' season, Hank Williams: Lost Highway, by Randal Myler and Mark Harelik, directed by Damon Kiely, music director Malcolm Ruhl and starring Matt Brumlow as 'Hank Williams,' August 30 - October 6, at the Greenhouse Theater Center's Downstage Mainstage Theater, 2257 N. Lincoln Ave. Tickets are $19 for previews, $29 Thursdays and Fridays and $39 Saturdays and Sundays and $49 for opening night.
