It's a busy week on Broadway! Academy Award-winner Tom Hanks makes his Broadway debut in Nora Ephron's LUCKY GUY which begins previews on Friday, 3/1. Also in previews starting Sunday, 3/3, is the Harvey Fierstein and Cyndi Lauper collaboration KINKY BOOTS playing at the Hirschfeld Theatre. On Sunday, March 3, Broadway bids farewell to its favorite nanny, MARY POPPINS whose run comes to a close after more than 2619 performances. BalletCollective to Present World Premiere at The Joyce Theatre

Troy Schumacher, Director of BalletCollective (formerly Satellite Ballet) today announced that the company will make its Joyce Theater debut on August 14 and 15 with a program that will include a world premiere collaboration between Schumacher, composer Ellis Ludwig-Leone, poet Cynthia Zarin and new music ensemble ACME, as well as a revised version of the company's Epistasis (2012). In other news, seven company dancers will be featured in the spring issue of Carine Roitfeld's new high gloss magazine, CR Fashion Book. An online film featuring dancers Ashley Laracey, Lauren King, David Applebaum and Taylor Stanley will be released in conjunction with the magazine release. (more...)

Casting has been announced for The Hub Theatre's spring production of LAUREN YEE's time-bending comedy, A MAN, HIS WIFE AND HIS HAT. SASHA OLINICKleads the cast as Hetchman, a retired hatmaker and title character of the piece. Olinick earned rave reviews as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in the Round House Theatre production of AMADEUS. Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg Proclaims March is Cabaret Month

New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg will issue a proclamation declaring March 'Cabaret Month' in honor of a tradition long observed by New York City club owners. The proclamation will be presented at the Cabaret Hotline Anniversary Gala at the Laurie Beechman Theater on March 6th. Vocalist Craig Pomranz will accept the document on behalf of the cabaret community including the organizations: Cabaret Hotline, Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC) and The Mabel Mercer Foundation. Who would have ever thought that the New York Cabaret scene would end up having almost as many awards shows as the film industry? The Nightlife Awards Show at Town Hall was presented on January 14, and the newly established BroadwayWorld.com New York Cabaret Awards Show filled the Metropolitan Room on February 21. The Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC) will hold it's 27th Annual MAC Awards Show on March 21 at B.B. King's Blues Club. But next up is the 28th Annual Bistro Awards Gala, which recognizes outstanding achievement in New York cabaret, jazz, and comedy, on March 4 at 6:30pm at the Gotham Comedy Club (208 West 23rd Street, Between 7th & 8th Ave). The evening, under the direction of Shellen Lubin, will once again be co-hosted by comedian and actor Jim David, and will feature performances from most of this year's Bistro-winning artists.
