Delray Beach Chorale to perform VOICES OF THE SEASON, 12/5 & 7

The Delray Beach Chorale's holiday concert, Voices of the Season, will feature the 60-voice Chorale accompanied by a professional instrumental ensemble. They will perform a selection of choruses and solos (sung by their Artist-in-Residence professionals) from Handel's Messiah, as well as a number of seasonal favorites, including "Hark the Herald Angels Sing", "Away in A Manger", "Do You Hear What I Hear", "Silent Night" (sung in German), and two Hanukah favorites, "Bashana Haba'ah" (sung in Hebrew), and "Festival of Flame". The concerts will take place at the Duncan Theatre in Lake Worth on Thursday, December 5th at 7:30 pm, and at the First Presbyterian Church in Delray Beach on Saturday, December 7th, at 3:00 pm.

The Los Angeles Master Chorale (LAMC) heralds Christmas with two matinee performances of its delightful seasonal concert, "Festival of Carols," Saturday, December 7, 2013, 2 pm, and Saturday, December 14, 2013, 2 pm, at Disney Hall. Silent Night, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, White Christmas, Deck the Hall and Santa Claus is Coming to Town are among the cherished holiday carols and traditional favorites setting a joyous mood and sung to glorious perfection by 115 members of the Chorale under Music Director Grant Gershon's baton. Also featured are the world premieres of arrangements by LAMC Swan Family Composer In Residence Shawn Kirchner - the French carol Pat-a-Pan, which he has intricately layered for women's voices and describes as "rhythmic and vibrant," and the Czech Rocking Carol, a lullaby setting for men's voices he calls "tender and soothing." Pianist Lisa Edwards and organist John West, who performs on Disney Hall's iconic pipe organ, add a delightful sonic flourish to the concert.

The five-time Grammy-winning San Francisco Girls Chorus—Lisa Bielawa, Artistic Director, and Valérie Sainte-Agathe, Music Director and Principal Conductor-- will present two holiday concerts, December 6 and 22 at First Congregational Church in Berkeley and Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco, respectively. The 40-voice San Francisco Girls Chorus will present “Noel, Noel” Friday, December 6, at 8 pm at First Congregational featuring holiday favorites and an audience sing-along. These 40 award-winning young artists will be joined by the full complement of nearly 400 members of the San Francisco Girls Chorus School, from ages 5 to 18, for the annual Davies Hall holiday extravaganza, Sunday, December 22, at 8 pm. This year's edition, entitled “Hark, the Herald Angels Swing!” will feature the Marcus Shelby Quintet and Shelby's new arrangements of “Go Tell It On The Mountain” and “Hark the Herald” written especially for the San Francisco Girls Chorus plus other seasonal favorites and an audience sing-along.
