Critically Acclaimed Pacific Northwest Author Justin Bog Releases Holiday Short Story Collection in Time for Christmas
by Sally Henry Fuller - Nov 23, 2014

Described by readers as a beautifully written collection of short stories, Hark explores the range of emotions surrounding the holidays. From melancholy to madness, loss and despair to hope and forgiveness, these six tales shimmer with feelings, some we'd rather stuff away, that Christmas can evoke. Within HarkA Christmas Collection, a retired police officer faces another Christmas Eve while bitter recollections haunt his every turn, a lonely woman plans to seduce Santa Claus one Christmas Eve, a widow grows anxious as she searches for a present she misplaced and intended to send to her ungrateful sister, a woman can't keep the images of her pastthese ghostsfrom haunting the life she chooses to live, a bookstore clerk and his partner join a Christmas party in Sun Valley, Idaho and are taught a lesson most un-holidaylike, and, finally, a couple portrays Mr. & Mrs. Claus in their small island town holiday festivities and face a grim diagnosis together. Set in colorful locations around the United States, from Anacortes, Washington, to Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Sun Valley, Idaho, each tale focuses on people who struggle to make good choices, learn lessons, and maybe even find peace during the holiday season. A bonus story, Poseidon Eyes, from the upcoming Sandcastle and Other StoriesThe Complete Edition, is included. Hark-A Christmas Collection is available in both print and ebook format. BWW REVIEW: NSMT's Swanky New CHICAGO Is a Real Killer
by Jan Nargi - Oct 5, 2014

Director and choreographer Nick Kenkel has swept through the North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly, Mass. like a breath of fresh autumn air with his inventive, delightful, and often surprising production of CHICAGO: A Musical Vaudeville. With a less stylized concept than Bob Fosse's 1975 original or the current long-running Tony Award-winning Walter Bobbie-Ann Reinking revival, Kenkel has injected a relaxed playfulness into his staging that invites the audience to visit this familiar killer musical anew.

BWW Recap: Pack Your Bagpipes, Plaid, Gaelic Dictionary; OUTLANDER Road Trip
by Kara McCoy - Sep 7, 2014

At the end of last week's OUTLANDER, Dougal Mackenzie promised us a road trip, and this week, we got it. Just so you don't get the wrong impression, Dougal's idea of a road trip doesn't include kicking your feet up on the dashboard, singing along to the Spice Girls at an obnoxious volume, or making a McDonald's pit stop on the Jersey Turnpike. The purpose of this trip is very much the journey, not the destination, as Dougal represents the Laird in collecting rent from the residents of surrounding villages. It's a good opportunity for Claire to finally get outside of Castle Leoch and maybe even make a run for it to Craigh na Dun, but as always, the Sassenach must be cautious.

BWW Recap: OUTLANDER's All About Lairds, and Bairns, and Bards
by Kara McCoy - Aug 24, 2014

Ah yes. Another week, another frolic about the sprawling Scottish highlands. Alright, maybe not so much a frolic. Our heroine Claire certainly has more important things on her mind; survival for one, escape for another. In this week's episode of 'Outlander,' Claire is faced with even more difficulties within the walls of Castle Leoch, as the possibility of returning to her home and her husband seem further away than ever.
