3-D Theatricals (3DT) rings in its 2017-1018 season at both the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center (RBPAC) and the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) with Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein, a musical comedy from the Broadway creative team of the 12-time Tony Award winning smash hit The Producers. The production, with music and lyrics by Brooks and a book by Thomas Meehan, is a hilariously tuneful show based on the 1974 smash hit film Young Frankenstein which was a wickedly inspired re-imagining of the Mary Shelley classic from the comic genius of Mel Brooks. David Lamoureux directs with Corey Hirsch serving as Musical Director and Daniel Smith as Choreographer. Dino Nicandros* stars as Frederick Frankenstein with Danny Blaylock as The Monster , Julia Aks as Inga , Erik Scott Romney as Igor/Victor Frankenstein , Tracy Rowe Mutz* as Frau Blucher , Ashley Fox Linton* as Elizabeth , and Richard Gould* as Inspector Kemp/Hermit . *Denotes members of Actors Equity Association.

Ophelia Theatre Group presents a fantastic array of new plays based on classic tales, but 'with a twist'! These performances, divided over four weekends, will turn modern and classic myth on its ear.

For one night only, October 7, 2017, six award-winning tap artists, connected through their Broadway background in Bring in 'da Noise, Bring in 'da Funk, reunite to celebrate their art form in the newly renovated Kennedy Center Terrace Theater. Featuring D.C. natives Joseph Webb and Baakari Wilder along with Omar Edwards, Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards, Derick K. Grant, and Jason Samuels Smith, this unique performance is choreographed to honor the roots of tap dance, their predecessors, and each other, all to live jazz music by the Lafayette Harris Jr. Quintet.

Today, the Actors' Equity Foundation honored Katrina Lenk for her work in The Band's Visit and Indecent as well as Will Pullen from Sweat with the 2017 Clarence Derwent Award. In addition, the annual Actors' Equity Foundation Award honored union members Barbara Barrie for her work in Broadway's Significant Other and Anthony Chisholm for his work in this past season's riveting Jitney.

It was just announced by Pulitzer Prize administrator Mike Pride that Lynn Nottage's SWEAT has officially won the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. 

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley continues its 2016/2017 season with a musical saga of immigrant America, Rags. From the creators of Fiddler on the Roof and Wicked, this exhilarating musical follows the journey of Jewish immigrants Rebecca and her son David, who find themselves navigating the teeming, turn-of-the-century tenements of New York. A soaring, tuneful score (music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Stephen Schwartz) illuminates this sweeping saga (book by Joseph Stein) of dreams and disillusions, love lost and inspiration found, and the heart and soul of the American character. It was declared "A winner, warm and witty. You are tempted to rise cheering," by The Mercury News. Rags will be directed by TheatreWorks Founding Artistic Director Robert Kelley, who notes "this production could not be timelier. As America debates immigration policies, what better time to present this deeper look at the newcomer's experience."  KADM Productions has announced the West Coast premiere of Allen Wilder 2.0, written and directed by Matt Morillo, at the Lounge Theatre in Hollywood for four weeks only beginning April 28. The cast will feature (in alphabetical order) Farida Amer, Eileen Grubba and Tom Pilutik. There will be one preview performance on Friday, April 28 and opening is set for Saturday, April 29 at 8pm. The limited engagement will run through May 21 only.
