PASSCAL, Americana Music to Present 75th Anniversary Production of OUR TOWN, 8/2-11

To celebrate the anniversary of Thornton Wilder's OUR TOWN, PASSCAL will produce a limited engagement of the classic play with Americana music and original scoring composed by Jonathan Kupper, at The First Congregational Church in Buena Park, California for the first two weekends of August. It is the ONLY production slated for the Southern California area for the Anniversary! The production is being produced by PASSCAL (Performing Arts Society of Southern California) in Association with All Seasons Theatre Company, Inc. Patrick Riviere, who most recently directed the acclaimed production of THE LAST DAYS OF JUDAS ISCARIOT at The Victory Theatre in Burbank, will helm the production. The Laguna Playouse will present Hershey Felder's newest production, award-winning concert pianist Mona Golabek starring in the one-woman show, based on a true story, THE PIANIST OF WILLESDEN LANE. Adapted and directed by audience favorite Hershey Felder and based on the book The Children of Willesden Lane by Golabek and Lee Cohen, this music-filled evening recounts the personal story of Ms. Golabek's mother in Nazi-occupied Europe. THE PIANIST OF WILLESDEN LANE will perform for two weeks only beginning tonight, May 29 through Sunday, June 9 at the Laguna Playhouse, Moulton Theatre, 606 Laguna Canyon Rd. in Laguna Beach. Jackie Hoffman & John Epperson Set to Lead ONCE UPON A MATTRESS Benefit for Transport Group, 6/17

Transport Group, the Drama Desk, Outer Critics' Circle, and OBIE award-winning theatre company, has announced that it will present a one-night-only, all-star concert of the acclaimed 1959 classic Broadway musical Once Upon A Mattress on Monday, June 17 at 7pm at the Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre in the Pershing Square Signature Center, 480 West 42 Street. Jackie Hoffman will star as Princess Winnifred with John 'Lypsinka' Epperson as The Queen Aggravain, and the evening will be directed by five-time Drama Desk nominee, Jack Cummings III. Composer Mary Rodgers will take part in a post-show discussion with the audience. Further casting will be announced at a later date. The benefit concert for Transport Group is co-produced by John Epperson. (more...)

Everyman Theatre Closes Season With THE BEAUX' STRATAGRM

Everyman Theatre closes its historic 2012/13 season with a staging of the rarely produced comedic gem, The Beaux' Stratagem. Founding Artistic Director Vincent M. Lancisi directs the production, which features a large cast of 15 actors and includes Resident Company Members Megan Anderson, Clinton Brandhagen and Bruce Randolph Nelson. Everyman moved into its brand new theatre in January of this year. The production will run from June 5th through June 30th. (more...)

The National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts, the only accredited acting school in the Greater Washington Area, announced today that Crash of Rhinos, a new theater company in the process of being born, will hold a sketch comedy revue called the 'Crash!' in the Conservatory's black-box theater tonight, May 18, at 8 pm. Theater Latte Da announced yesterday that a season of four adventures in musical storytelling and the continuation of a major new work development program will comprise its 16th Season. Slated for production are Steerage Song at The Lab Theater (September 25 - October 20, 2013), All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914 at the Pantages Theatre (December 19-22, 2013), Cabaret at the Pantages Theatre (January 15 - February 9, 2014), and Our Town at The Lab Theater (March 12 - April 6, 2014). In spring 2014, the company will bring back NEXT: New Musicals in the Making, their program to develop new works for the musical theater canon. (more...)
