Bay Street Theater is pleased to announce BLACKOUT at Bay Street, a late night immersive cabaret. Doors will open immediately after the Mainstage show, at approximately 10:30 pm, with the cabaret performances beginning at 11 pm. The first weekend this summer is Friday and Saturday, August 8 and 9 with THE SKIVVIES. The second weekend this summer is Friday and Saturday, August 22 and 23 with THE BAY STREET MUSICAL CABARET. For Tonight, a new original musical, by creators Shenelle Williams, Spencer Williams and Whitney Rhodes is headed to New York City to participate in The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) as a developmental reading. For Tonight's story is inspired by the life of the writer's great-great-great-grandfather in the 1830's in Northern Wales/Liverpool. With its indie-rock inspired score and a completely original book, this story focuses on the universal themes of love, family and acceptance. On July 1, 2014, single tickets go on sale for Signature Theatre's 25th Anniversary Season. The 2014/15 season will bring three new musicals to life in world premieres including the world premiere of the Sheryl Crow and Barry Levinson penned musical adaptation of the 1982 movie Diner; Kid Victory by John Kander (Chicago, Cabaret) and Greg Pierce; and Soon by Nick Blaemire. The season begins with Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Sunday in the Park with George; and continues with the musical version of Sinclair Lewis's best-selling novel Elmer Gantry; the DC area premiere of Sex with Strangers by Laura Eason; a world premiere concert event Simply Sondheim celebrating the work of Stephen Sondheim; and Kander & Ebb's classic musical Cabaret. The producers of ON THE TOWN announced today that Megan Fairchild(New York City Ballet Principal Dancer), Alysha Umphress (American Idiot) and Elizabeth Stanley (Company) will join the critically-acclaimed Broadway revival of ON THE TOWN, directed by John Rando (Tony Award® for Urinetown) and choreographed by Joshua Bergasse (Emmy Award winner for 'Smash'). Fairchild, a principal dancer with the New York City Ballet, will make her Broadway debut playing 'Ivy Smith'. Based on Christopher Bond's retelling of the original Victorian penny dreadful, Sweeney Todd tells the tale of a 19th century barber seeking justice for the corrupt London judge who exiled him. With help from his partner in crime, the widow pie maker Mrs. Lovett, Sweeney exacts a fearsome revenge as Mrs. Lovett concocts an alarmingly delicious new recipe for her pie shop.
