Based on the film Passione d'Amore directed by Ettore Scola

Based on the novel Fosca by I. U. Tarchetti

PASSION, winner of 4 Tony Awards including Best Music and Lyrics, Best Book, and Best Musical, features music and lyrics by the acclaimed Stephen Sondheim (Sweeney Todd, West Side Story, Company, Follies, Into The Woods, Gypsy) and book by James Lapine (Falsettos, Into The Woods, Sunday In The Park With George).

PASSION opened on Broadway in 1994, and received its London revival in 2010 at the Donmar Warehouse as part of Stephen Sondheim's 80th birthday celebrations.

Stephen Sondheim's PASSION revolves around a handsome Italian solider, Giorgio, separated from his beautiful mistress, who is shattered and ultimately changed by the unconditional and obsessive love of Fosca, his Colonel's chronically ill and plain cousin. Her unrelenting passions force him to re-evaluate his beliefs about love and attraction between two human beings.

Harbourside Place to Present SHELL OF A MAN
by BWW News Desk - Oct 21, 2016

Local playwright Donna Carbone returns to Harbourside Place in Jupiter with another dinner theater presentation of her play, Shell of a Man. She originally brought Shell of a Man, the true story of one veterans' battle with PTSD, to Harbourside in September and the demand for tickets far exceeded available seating. The most often heard comment from the audience was "Riveting!" Carbone is Passionate about the need to personalize PTSD. She believes that 15 years of war and world events have desensitized society to the needs of our veterans. In a recent interview, she said, "We are on the backside curve of PTSD awareness, so when I saw grown men in the audience trying to hide their tears, I felt hopeful that the message would stay with them long after the final curtain came down. Women cried openly. One audience member told me that he forgot he was watching a play. He believed that the real Robert Logan was on stage speaking to him and he was deeply moved." (more...)

BWW Review: The Dream is Impossible with 5th Ave's MAN OF LA MANCHA
by Jay Irwin - Oct 19, 2016

Dale Wasserman, Mitch Leigh, and Joe Darion's "Man of La Mancha" is a bona fide classic. It's a sweeping epic filled with power, pathos, romance, and tragedy … when it's done right. The show is by no means bulletproof. I've seen incredible productions and I've seen mediocre productions. And after the current production at the 5th Avenue Theatre now I can say I've seen an atrocious production. Not only does it do no honor to the beauty of the original but it also does no honor to basic tenets of good musical theater. And for a musical theater nerd such as myself, that makes for an offensive evening. (more...)
