Pride Players to Present PROJECT 15, 4/3-6

In its fifteenth year, Pride Players continues to challenge teens to use improvisational acting to explore the challenges and successes of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and straight-allied teens in Omaha. The 17 teens in the show have come together to create and perform a collection of songs, poetry, monologues, and skits that explore a wide variety of issues, ranging from Midwestern stereotypes to gay marriage laws. The resulting show will be presented April 3 - 6 at The Rose Theater. (more...)

Bay Street Theatre has announced its Second Annual Steinbeck Festival in Sag Harbor on May 1-4, in conjunction with the annual celebration held by the National Steinbeck Center based in Salinas, California. Activities to honor John Steinbeck's contributions to our community will feature events including 3 days of films, a VIP waterfront cocktail party where guests will enjoy short boat excursions to view Steinbeck's home from the water, and the Second Annual 'Travels with Charley' Dog Walk on Sunday, May 4 at 11 a.m., in partnership with the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation. Jill Rappaport, an award-winning animal advocate and correspondent for NBC News and the TODAY show, will serve as celebrity host at both the cocktail party and the Dog Walk. Proceeds benefit Bay Street Theatre and 10% of the Dog Walk proceeds will go to the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation. The all-inclusive FESTIVAL VIP PASS for the weekend is $150. The Newly Renovated National Civil Rights Museum Reopens Today

The newly renovated National Civil Rights Museum will officially reopen its doors today, April 5, 2014. The museum has undergone significant renovation with an infusion of $27.5 million into the remodeling of the 23-year old historic landmark. Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announces the cast and creative team for Alan Ayckbourn's science fiction comedy Communicating Doors. Eleven plays penned by Alan Ayckbourn have been produced by the Alley, including the American premiere of Henceforward, directed by Ayckbourn, in 1987 and House & Garden in 2002. Alan Ayckbourn has been inducted into the American Theatre's Hall of Fame, received the 2010 Critics' Circle Award for Services to the Arts, became the first British playwright to receive both Olivier and Tony Special Lifetime Achievement Awards and was knighted in 1997 for services to the theatre.
