2010 marked the year the legendary American Composer Stephen Sondheim had his 80th Birthday, and there were many celebrations in his honour. The last one was a celebration at Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops under the direction of Steven Reineke. Kate Baldwin, Christiane Noll, Aaron Lazar and Alex Gemignani came out to sing the music and honour the man, and BWW featured interviews with each of them before the show. CBS is currently developing an hour-long television series set to star stage and screen actor Jason Alexander, according to Variety. Alexander is best-known for his Broadway debut in Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along and Jerome Robbins' BROADWAY, to which he earned a 1989 Tony Award. He also starred opposite Martin Short in 'The Producers,' and was featured on the popular Emmy-Award winning television sitcom, 'Seinfeld.' He is set to star and executive produce the in-development CBS series, which will be written by Simon Barry. He will play a former TV-star-turned-investigator who has an interest in the act of disguise. (more...)

The New York Philharmonic will present Stephen Sondheim's groundbreaking Company, with an all-star cast led by Neil Patrick Harris, star of the hit television series, How I Met Your Mother, on April 7-9, 2011. The award-winning musical will be produced and directed by Lonny Price, who directed and co-produced last season's SONDHEIM: The Birthday Concert!, and will be conducted by Sondheim specialist Paul Gemignani, with the original orchestrations for a 35-piece orchestra by Jonathan Tunick.
