by BWW Staff - Jun 22, 2016

If you're expecting to find your corner of the sky, you will not. Yes, this is a Bible story, but do not expect Moses to be there even if you believe. And yes, there could be ever, ever after but there are no singing animals present. This is simply MusicArtes Inc.'s production of Godspell. (more...)

BWW Blog: Anastasia Sims-Chin - The Rainbow Connection
by Guest Blogger: Anastasia Sims-Chin - Jul 6, 2016

Everyone has heard about it, all around the world. The deadliest shooting in US history happened right here, in Orlando. As actors, it's mind boggling as to why anyone would be unaccepting to others because of their sexual orientation, race, gender, or otherwise. In theatre, we are a family, and everyone is accepted. The only good that could come out of a tragedy like this is the need for the community to come together and make a statement for the LGBTQ community. As an OCPS and Winter Park High School student I got the amazing experience of singing with 400 other students and teachers the song 'Beautiful City' from Godspell. This song represented how we can come together and make Orlando beautiful again. (more...)

BWW Interview: Tim Rice And Brett Smock of FROM HERE TO ETERNITY at Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival

Based off the 1951 novel of the same name by James Jones, the show tells the story of a group of U.S. Army soldiers during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. From Here to Eternity, as Rice tells us via a phone interview, is much different than some of his past musicals including The Wizard of Oz and Beauty and the Beast. 'It's not like Aladdin or The Lion King,' he explains. 'The material is very different and more mature than those shows. It's a very complex story. There is a lot going on in it but that is what makes it such a beautiful show.' (more...)

The Making of America's Musical- 1776: The Story Behind the Story
by Jeffrey Kare - Jul 4, 2016

As America celebrates its 240th Birthday today, let's talk about what is probably one of the greatest musicals ever written, and it only came about 46 years before Hamilton. 1776 dramatizes the story of how John Adams was able to persuade his colleagues to vote for American independence as well as signing the Declaration of Independence. While the musical does dramatize the most important event in American history, the story behind the musical is probably just as interesting. (more...)
