Glee-Cap: Girls (and Boys) on Film.Glee-Cap: Girls (and Boys) on Film.
by Robert Lawlor - Mar 7, 2013

Tonight's Glee and the recent Oscars have a lot in common, actually. No, Seth McFarland isn't going to come sing a song about boobs.. well, not yet. But, tonight's Glee celebrates the magic of music from the movies - how songs can turn a simple moment be it happy or sad into magic. Join us as Glee celebrates the movies, and their 500th musical number. As Daddy Warbucks said in Annie - 'Let's go to the movies'. Will dreams of a Fred-Ginger number between himself and Emma ('You're All The World To Me') and proposes the idea of a movie/mash up theme to the glee club along with the annual boys vs girls competition. Finn attempts to help Will find Emma, but Will is more focused on spending time with good movies than focusing on his runaway bride. After checking in with Sue, which results in no help whatsoever, Finn teams with Artie for some tips on how to find Emma, thus prompting Finn to go check out Emma's parents. Brittany and Blaine propose a non-competition number, and kicks off Movie week with 'Shout' from Animal House. (more...)

by David Clarke - Feb 5, 2013

Bayou City Concert Musicals has a track record of enjoyable and wholly entertaining performances. They burst onto the Houston Theatre scene with a concert production of FOLLIES. Since FOLLIES, Paul Hope has astounded audiences with productions of FALSETTOS, SHE LOVES ME, 70, GIRLS, 70, ASSASSINS, FIORELLO!, THE SECRET GARDEN, PAL JOEY, ON THE TOWN, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, FINNAN'S RAINBOW, and ONE TOUCH OF VENUS. Each of these shows was a sensational hit in its own time, but has been notoriously neglected as time merrily rolls along. Each of these concerts has been accompanied by a live orchestra, which only increases the price tag for producing the fabulous productions. To help keep ticket prices affordable, Paul Hope utilizes showcase cabarets as fundraisers. Like his concert productions, the cabarets are jam packed with the best of the best of Houston's musical theatre talent who only aim to captivate and enthrall. The latest cabaret, JEROME KERN IN HOLLYWOOD, is no exception. (more...)
